Nadia Lockyer obtains restraining order against her ex-lover

Former Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer obtained a restraining order against her former lover this week, even as he sat in a café 30 miles away claiming she tried to frame him for battery and broke his heart.

Lockyer, 41, has claimed Stephen Chikhani attacked her Feb. 3 in a Newark hotel room. But the state Justice Department investigated and declined to charge him with any crime.

Still, Lockyer, who resigned her seat on the board last month, claimed in court papers filed this week that she, her 8-year-old son and her husband -- state Treasurer Bill Lockyer -- continue to be haunted by him.

"I am recovering from post-traumatic stress disorder brought on by his February attack," she wrote. "I have been sober for over 90 days now, but the stress and anxiety from his constant barrage of emails, texts and calls to me and my husband, and his various threats, have complicated my recovery."

Chikhani, a 35-year-old San Jose resident just out of rehabilitation for his methamphetamine addiction, claimed during a four-hour interview with this newspaper Monday that Lockyer attacked him in the hotel room that night in a methamphetamine-fueled jealous rage because she believed he'd been seeing other women. He also said she had sex with him twice after that Feb. 3 altercation -- trysts of which he claims to have a recording and a witness -- and also called and emailed him several times, even as police began investigating her claims. On Friday, he sent this newspaper a pair of links to two brief, undated YouTube videos of Lockyer engaged in sexual foreplay.

Fidgeting nonstop while sipping an iced triple-espresso and shredding a drinking-straw wrapper into fine confetti, Chikhani said Monday he left bitter and bereft by the three months he spent wondering whether he was headed for state prison. He said he's left with thousands of dollars in debt to his lawyer and investigators, and a name tarred with public accusations of stalking, blackmail and battery.

"Being an addict, I've burned my own life down lots of times," he said, referring to relationships and jobs lost, pockets emptied, relatives disappointed. "But this is the first time someone's done it for me."

Cheryl White, Lockyer's attorney, declined comment Friday, saying Lockyer's court filing speaks for itself.

Adrienne Dell, Chikhani's attorney, said she'd known Lockyer would be filing such papers, but Chikhani hasn't been served with them, so she couldn't comment.

The restraining order Lockyer obtained this week will remain in effect at least until a court hearing May 24 in Pleasanton. In her court filing, Lockyer claims Chikhani "has called the Lockyer household multiple times in the last week although they unsuccessfully changed a couple of the numbers to stop him. Mr. Chikhani has even texted the Lockyers' minor son Diego because Ms. Lockyer will not respond to his many calls and texts. On May 2-5, 2012, he called and texted both Mr. and Mrs. Lockyer more than 10 times in 24 hours."

Nadia Lockyer's filing claims Chikhani in a May 2 email "threatened to file a false CPS (Child Protective Services) report against me so that my son Diego will be taken from me."

In that email, attached to Lockyer's court filing, Chikhani told Lockyer she should expect "to go to family court to deal with how unfit of a mother" she is, claiming he has evidence that she had her son in her car while driving under the influence of drugs.

"I need to make sure Diego is not in harms [sic] way," he wrote.

Lockyer also claimed Chikhani "threatened to enlist people he knows, including someone named 'Tiny,' to rape and kill me. He left voice mail after voice mail demanding that I meet him, and escalating [sic] his threats when I did not respond. On May 5, 2012, he threatened to sell things of a personal nature about me to some publication because I do not return his calls or respond to emails and text messages."

Chikhani on Monday said he had considered contacting authorities about Lockyer's son's safety, and asked a reporter where he might sell sex tapes he had made with Lockyer. He didn't speak of using either to blackmail her.

Lockyer had told this newspaper and Hayward police that an April 11 email, in which she accused her husband of having supplied her with drugs earlier in their relationship, was the result of Chikhani hacking into her account.

In an extensive interview with this newspaper April 20, she both acknowledged she had sent the email herself and announced she would resign from the Board of Supervisors to recover from her addiction and care for her son.

Chikhani said what had begun as an instant attraction when they met in a chemical dependency recovery program in the summer of 2010 became a loving relationship. "No matter what we argued about, as long as one of us swallowed our pride, we could just melt into each other's arms and all of the problems between us and beyond would disappear instantly," Chikhani wrote in an e-mail follow-up to Monday's interview. "This was something we both never experienced with any other person."

But things began to sour when she started buying methamphetamine directly from his dealer while he was in jail for a parole violation last summer, Chikhani claimed.

"Nadia doesn't know the road she's on with the drugs; she doesn't know what the people are like," he said. "Up until that point, I was the one giving to Nadia and her using wasn't excessive, we were keeping our lives intact."

Chikhani wrote in an e-mail that he "would never have gotten involved with the woman she is today." He said saying her motivation used to be "love, and to make this world a better place ... But now she has so much hatred in her, she can't see she is living her life the exact opposite from who she was."

I don't know. Except for the details that she eventually would boil your child's pet bunny or come at you with a butcher knife or an ice pick, she looks like she could be a lot of fun.

(let's be honest)

"Chikhani said what had begun as an instant attraction drug-fueled lust when they met in a chemical dependency recovery program in the summer of 2010 became a loving relationship co-dependent relationship based on (her) cash and (his) contacts.

----------------------------

She hooked up with his dealer while he was in prison, and likely had sex for dope. Then, when he got out, she wanted a fling with him, as long as he was buying. When his pile ran low, he probably suspected she was holding out, and the fight ensued.

I mean, you are all 'amped up', and that's the 'best' time to have a fight (or sex).

(Disclaimer: neither is true, but addicts think it's 'all good', and usually do both)

Most human females are naturally attracted to males that are different from themselves and on the fringes or somewhat outside their own social norms. It is the way nature selects for diversity in female mating patterns. In males, this is accomplished by simply encouraging mating with more females. That is not possible in females because they can only genetically mate with one male at a time. This is why you commonly see the “nice girls loving bad boys” and “opposites attract” thing.

Females that had this inclination in prehistoric times increased the genetic diversity of their offspring and had a genetic line that was more likely to survive to today. It was also common for females to run off and secretly mate with “badboys” while having a nice, practical provider in their own clan for the future badboy offspring.

Females that mated with the “nice” guys among their own clan that were similar to themselves were most likely mating with a relative. A genetic line with little diversity was susceptible to disease and defects so fewer of those genes survived.

The survival of our species depended on many instincts and subconscious thoughts that seem completely out of place in today's completely different world. The survival of a species also does always consider the happiness of individuals. Many animals suffer their entire lives because of their own instinctual drives that are necessary for the species as a whole.
