As Catholics we believe in the Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in One Being); that Being made it clear where homosexuality stood.
Yeah, Jesus never talked about Cell Phones or Hip-Hop music, or Dancing with the Stars.
Jesus never talked about stealing cable TV either...so what’s this mean??
Maybe not, but ‘Dad’ sure made his opinoins known to the Sodomites.
Jesus only spoke of MEN and WOMEN being married
Mt 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
Mt 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,
Mt 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Mt 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Actually, Jesus DID condemn homosexuality. In both Matthew and Mark he condemns “pornea”. Pornea is the Greek word usually translated as “fornication” but it means any kind of unnatural or wrongful sexual behavior. In first century Jewish culture this would have certainly included homosexual behavior.
Romans 1:
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
[24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
[25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
[26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
[27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
[29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
[30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
[31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
[32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
I thought there were fish in those baskets, not sausage...
An acquaintance once used this very line on me.
I responded with, “Jesus is God. Do you think God the Son and God the Father disagreed on this and are hashing it out up in heaven as we speak?” Impossible - they are one.
When God the Father wrote that homosexuality is an abomination, that was also God the Son.
Waiting for Obama to let us know that his Christian faith guided his thinking on abortion.
Jesus did not come to over rule the Law, rather to fulfill it. That covers a LOT of ground. All of it, really.
I make it a habit not to argue Biblical truths with those who really have no interest in learning the truth. They know nothing about it, nor are they concerned with it, so no amount of debate makes a difference. Only God can illuminate the eyes and heart of the lost.
Ping for later
Even the ancient Greeks, who’s social order was built around homosexuality, never thought to have had “gay” marriage enocoded in their laws, evidently knowing it wreck their whole sciety.
I believe Jesus DID say that a man shall leave his parents for his wife and they shall become one. That statement sure was a statement on marriage between a man and a woman.
Matthew 5:17 - Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Jesus didn’t mention child molestation either.
What a weak argument. Besides .... Jesus being God in the flesh (Emmanuel - God with us), if it’s in the bible (God’s word) it’s Jesus’ words too.
