Frank discussion re our loss to Obama/Romney and the future direction of FR and tea party movement

My FRiends, we might as well face the reality that we the combined pro-life conservative movement and tea party coalition have lost this round (the presidential election) in the larger battle to reclaim our constitution and our inalienable rights. Rove, Romney and the GOP-e have successfully destroyed and driven off each and every pro-life conservative tea party candidate from the race and all have surrendered to the Romney camp. It is no secret that Romney is not one of us. There is absolutely no doubt that he has never accomplished a single conservative thing in his entire political career (one term as liberal governor of liberal Massachusetts and six years campaigning for president). In Massachusetts, he undeniably championed abortion, gay rights, global warming, gun control, big government statist mandated/socialized health care programs, liberal judges, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, debt limit increases, etc, and even though he's recently claimed a complete reversal in political beliefs and no longer despises pro-life conservatives or the time of Reagan-Bush, I still don't trust him. He still stubbornly holds on to some of his statist beliefs, like global warming, gays in the military, RomneyCare, stimulus spending, etc, so there is no way I can vote for him or join Cain, Perry, Bachmann, Newt or any others who are endorsing him. But I will not act on my prior promises that I would actively campaign against him if he wins the nomination. Our combined movement is already torn and splintered and is going to have to be mended if we're going to have any impact whatsoever against the liberal/progressives and statists after the election. To that end I propose a TRUCE among our conservative forces during the remainder of this election cycle.

We conservatives have already lost the presidency to either the Dems or the GOP-e, and if we tear the tea party apart, if we tear the pro-life movement apart, if we tear FR apart then we lose it all. It's far more important that we re-unite and live to fight another day. Even if we can't vote for a true conservative for the presidency, it's doubly important that we all turn out on election day or sooner and drag our friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers, etc, to the polls to vote straight conservative for every slot on our ballots. The only way we can win our freedom back is to vote out the liberal progressives and vote in as many liberty loving conservatives as is humanly possible into every elected office at every level of government all across this great land. To prevent a total loss to the dems or GOP-e, we must continue the tea party rebellion into November and beyond. Whatever else you may do, you must turn out and vote straight tea party conservative down ticket!!

We must continue expanding our inroads into the state houses and into every elective office in the land. We must continue building on our majority in the house and we must retake the senate!! We must help the conservative governors and state legislatures to fully restore the ninth and tenth amendments and reclaim the real political power away from the federal usurpers and return it to the states and the people per the constitution!! This way, regardless of who wins the presidency, we can cut his unconstitutional expansionist movements off at the knees. And if any executive, civil officer or judge dares commit impeachable offenses, we must hold the majorities so we can impeach and remove them from office!!

And we must salvage and rebuild and continue strengthening our conservative pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-borders, pro-constitution, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-liberty movements and our tea party coalition. And we must stop ripping each other apart!!

Therefore I hereby propose a general truce among our conservative forces!!

The Republic we save may be our own!!

As far as FR's finances go, we're in the same boat as the rest of the economy and will have to make do with what we can raise. Fortunately, the big debts we ran up a couple years ago have been paid off. We borrowed approx $20,000 a few years ago from two FReepers to fund our national convention, plus we ran up another $20,000 in legal fees during the last couple of years fighting off Righthaven. But those are now behind us and paid off. We also did quite a bit of traveling each year for the last three years on cross country tea party tours, but I think we can now cut that back and remove it from our budget requirements. If we're fortunate enough to not incur any additional legal costs or equipment costs (other than what we've already planned), and cut the travel and a few other areas, we should be able to tighten our belts enough to weather the storm even if we fail to reach our short term fundraising goals.

Whatever the outcome of the elections, we are prepared to roar into 2013 with the tea party chewing up liberal/progressives and RINOs and raising hell in our never ending fight for liberty!!

We are the resistance!!

Let's take the enemy head-on instead of fighting each other!!

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!!

“A more complete way to look at it is that by casting your vote for someone other than Obama OR Romney in the General, neutral between those two, you are using your vote to weaken either liberal victory.”

If Obama wins it will be 100% Communist, 100% of the time, with him and his appointees (cabinet posts, czars, judges). The destructive regime won’t be weakened in the slightest by a symbolic protest vote.

I am overly passionate in my hatred and disgust of Ron Paul and anyone who defends him or - like yourself - would vote for him.

All through this thread I’ve explained his role in the campaign has been as a useful idiot for Mitt. Paul’s only objective was to divide and conquer the GOP away from real conservatives like Perry, Cain, Bachmann, Newt and so on.

They (conservatives) now are all gone. Who’s left? Mitt and his stooge RoPaul.

Truce? Jim has called for a truce relative to the ABO crowds. He has not backed off his opposition to “911 Truther, Pro-Abortion, Anti Military, Gay Agenda supporting, Drug Legalization supporting Paul-bots.”

And unless I hear otherwise - I will continue to lay waste to any pukes who defend Rep. Ron Paul.

Yep, writing-in non candidates is an exercise in futility.

It will make you feel good but that’s about it.

Most places, such ballots will go into the trash, and all down-ballot votes will be uncounted.

Is that helpful, do you think?

Really? Both houses of Congress and the entire population of the country will just suddenly fall into comas and be silent?

Funny how some are so concerned about the large number of 'symbolic protest votes'.

Perhaps they shouldn't have had Rove badmouth conservatives, and not played dirty games, or changed rules mid-election.

Eff the GOP. Romney won't win anyway. And I won't vote for that liberal.

You’re not listening to the reasons people are giving you why Ron Paul isn’t supported.

The man doesn’t want the job!... as many Paul supporters you’re in denial.

Further he’s been protecting Romney’s flank from day one. Why would any one consider supporting Paul so he can hand it over to Romney?

Most Pizza Hut’s have anchovies if you ask for them.

That is the most insightful and true thing I have read here all day. Thank you.

All the groups I am involved with are coming to this same conclusion. For some groups, it means a “President-free zone” and a complete focus on local, state and Congressional races. But in all cases, “Nobama” suffices.

I say: Don’t stay home. Skip that “President” box if you must but GO TO THE POLLS on election day for the “down ballot” races!

Oh, heck! That was a dark day in FReeper history.

Correct! It is from the FR cult classic "housewife/modmin admin" thread

btw, did you ever get your samwich from the housewife admin?

“Really? Both houses of Congress and the entire population of the country will just suddenly fall into comas and be silent?”

Yeah, really. Just like the coma they’ve been in while O’Bunghole got Obamacare, an increased debt ceiling, unbridled mid-East meddling (including financial support for the Muslim Brotherhood), Fast and Furious, etc., etc., etc. A symbolic write-in vote will “weaken” that agenda like a fart in a hurricane.

It will just take all that much longer to root out socialism if Obama is re-elected. Keep electing more and more hard core conservatives to counter and finally turn back the garbage!

MF to RN: Call it what you must; it’s important that you feel special.

That's Magic Fingers' way of calling reaganaut's decision to reject Romney an egotistical bit of vanity. Interestingly, MF is the one calling it what he/she MUST.

I don’t know about others, but I personally cannot vote for Romney, but I will turn out and vote for every conservative on my ballot.

Jim, you and I are somewhat fortunate in the fact that we live in a state where our vote in the presidential race is meaningless - Obama will probably win CA by 20 points. So we can choose not to vote for Romney without it having any actual effect on the outcome. For those who are in swing states where their vote actually can have an impact, I hope they will hold their nose and vote against Obama.

It’s the responsibility of individual voters to first verify the validity of write-in votes with their own County recorder.

I’d never risk my ballot’s destruction by a faulty write-in vote.

Good, except BEWARE of the write-in vote danger of trashing your whole ballot. Vote instead for an official other-party candidate on the ballot. See other posts on this thread about that!

Yep, nobody offered me any of Mitsters money to throw this down the gut..he doesn't have enough money to buy the soul of every conservative out there.

We were looking for some Savory Barracuda and Green TEA and we got Imitation Crab, and Blue Koolaid. The rules of the free market still apply...the customer is walking.

Dittos to that!!!!

It doesn’t matter who we get in the election, if we don’t stop the brainwashing of our children. The greatest of our past is absolutely being lost.

Our kids go to a classical Christian school so they are getting some of that Western Civilization, but even there it is not conservative enough. One of the main history teachers is a “compassionate” liberal (pro life, Christian, but believes that the answer to all social problems should be through government. She believes in private business, etc - not a complete socialist but defintely thinks throwing money at any social or poverty problem via government programs is the answer). She has a big influence there because she teaches several important history and rhetoric classes, and I am dismayed when I see how often the kids choose to solve a social problem for their junior rhetoric project with some kind of government program. They aren’t being taught to think through what it means to be a conservative Biblical Christian and how to apply that to public policy problem solving. I think teachers like this are not uncommon even in the best Christian or secular private schools, becuase what they are being taught at the instotution where they got their Masters or Doctorate was this same progressive thinking!

So it is hard to find this kind of teaching even in private schools! (I’m sending a letter to our headmaster again about this ) If I had money and funding I’d start a similar school to the one my kids go to, but MUCH more conservative in the worldview and doctrine taught.

How about this for starters: http://constitution.hillsdale.edu/
Hillsdale College constitution 101

I believe Christian colleges should get permission to adapt this for a dual credit U.S. Government high school/college credit course. There are tons of high school kids now , whether homeschooled, public or private school, who are not going the traditional route to graduation and all kinds of flexibility is opening up on what they do to get their senior year’s credits. To me this is just a no-brainer to have this available a very low cost - word would get out via internet, facebook, etc. It could be seen as a cool “alternative” to the “establishment” brainwashing available. They could get all the basics of how U.S. governemtn works, but also get all the wonderful foundation of the worldviews, natural law, Biblical law, etc that fed into Constitutional thought.

Sorry so long but this is one of my hot-button issues with three teenagers. I’m going to make them go through the Hillsdale College course with my husband and me as a family this summer. Ha. I can hear the groans already so wish me luck :-)

“But our bigger problem, in my mind, is what is going on in the “educational” system. American Children are being taught a revised, biased, false story about western civilization and America. They are leaving schools with no knowledge of what America is, and how we evolved to become the world’s first and most successful democratic Republic. And so, they become ready tinder for minds like Obama’s.”

Just a thought....

What is needed is an integrated network of private schools that will again teach from the perspective that Western Civilization was (and is) superior, and teach with a true account of the facts of history (rather than the “rewritten history” of the post-1960’s).

Kind of like I remember receiving in public (yes, public!) schools in the 1950’s and early 1960’s before the lefties took it over.

I am not “concerned” about symbolic protest votes. I was responding to a comment that such a vote would somehow (unexplained) weaken the liberal agenda. However, I’m happy to have given you an opportunity to hawk your seething Romney rage for the 10,000th time.
