Those of you who have been reading FR for all these years and are acting shocked that I would not support Romney must have missed my hundreds of posts on our purposes here.

Just a reminder:

FR is and will remain until my dying day a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty, pro-tea party site.

Romney is none of the above.

Plus he lies a lot.

Obama is the very worst Democrat ever. Romney is the very worst Republican ever.

Either way we get the very worst for America.

FR has been in anti-RINO rebellion mode since RudyMcRomney hit the presidential scene six or seven years ago. We made an exception for McCain in 2008 because he was at least pro-life, a veteran, and he chose Sarah Palin, but we all swore we’d never make that mistake again.

How soon we forget.

Anyone who thinks I will support an abortionist, homosexualist, gun-grabbing, liberal judge appointing, mandate loving Keynesian statist for president, obviously does not know me. At all.

If my anti-abortion, anti-homosexualist, anti-statist stand causes some of our long term members to leave us, I hope we can at least part as FRiends.

In that spirit I leave you with this message:

Oh but the worst Republican is infinitely better than the worst Democrat.

Regardless, if this is it, I love ya man.

I feel partly responsible for this thread and how far it’s gone but it IS good and I’m glad people got a chance to express their opinions.

re: Jim

“FR is and will remain until my dying day a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty, pro-tea party site.”

But that’s the thing, everyone that has replied to this thread IS a pro-life, pro-family, pro-limited government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty, pro-tea party Republican.

We all are. There is no doubt about it. The only difference is that we differ on one simple thing and it has nothing to do with the above.

Obama cannot be re-elected. Even with an all GOP Senate and all GOP House. He will simply issue executive orders and do an end run around them. This can not stand. The nation cannot take another four years.

Mao Tse Tung and Stalin would be less of a threat then Obama.

Open post to Jim Robinson and Moderators,

Sir,
I request to be immediately unsubscribed from Free Republic (or “zotted” or whatever you want to call it).

When I discovered Free Republic sometime back in 1999, it was a thoughtful place which included many knowledgeable people and even some political insiders. (Lucianne Goldberg was only one of several people whose real names, if known, would have been recognized by the informed public.)

Today, reasoned, mature opinion has largely been replaced by hot tempers, rude and crude insults, and even religious intolerance. What was once a forum for mutually-respectful differences of opinion has degenerated into a free-for-all of schoolyard bullies.

Free Republic is still one of the best news aggregators anywhere. However, it is usually a waste of time to read the comments.

It has been very sad to see this process accelerating over the past two years. I kept hoping that more reasonable heads would prevail and bring the content back to its former high level. Now it seems clear that a different mentality permeates the atmosphere.

Yes, ...(for those of you who are about to say it)... Yes, it *is* Jim Robinson’s site and, yes, he can run it any way he chooses. And yes, I realize that if I don’t like it, I can go somewhere else.

That’s exactly what I want to do, provided I can get unsubscribed and my account deleted.

Goodbye, Free Republic. It was nice to know you while it lasted.

(OK, let’s see if the slavering attack dogs will now begin to rip me to shreds.)

Jim, your resistance is falling apart due to desertions and summary executions. And you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Your stand is well-documented and I haven’t seen a single person here who disagrees with the core of it.

But this site has become a pale shadow of what it once was. Once conservatives of varying degrees were free to discuss openly and intelligently. Now anyone who diverges even slightly from the mob’s opinion is openly insulted, often by you personally, often in disgusting and degrading terms.

Why anyone of even moderate intelligence would want to be a part of this anymore is beyond me. I do not. Please disable my account.

Jim......I do believe ,considering the times we are in, it is important that FR ‘strengthens’ it’s position. I believe you are trying to do just that, and with it there will be some who will leave, but you will also gain others in due time, I have no doubt of this.

Thank you for maintaining your positions thus far. As for Freedom to express oneself people are complaining about...I want the Freedom on A ‘Conservative site’ to bash Romney all I want without being told I’m ‘a traitor’ for not voting for Romney....or having to scroll by those promoting him here.

May the Lord guide all your decisions ahead...it will matter greatly, and more than we might realize, with what is coming.

Nobody is shocked that you refuse to support MR as the GOP nominee. Most, if not all of us here fully understand and agree.

The rebellion you are seeing on this thread is not against you or your position on Mitt.

The rebellion is against those here who clothe themselves in your position and villify any freeper who sees a different path to saving the country.

The Mitt thing is just the most recent cause celebre for these folks. Before that it was Newt or Santorum or Cain or Bachmann or Palin (where it started). They hide in your shadow and attack those who they feel you would disagree with - sometimes in the vilest manner (accusations of NAMBLA membership, death wishes...). They ping their compadres and it becomes a relentless mugging.

These freepers seem to feel empowered as long as they can say - "The boss says this" or "This is Jim's site and he says...". They feel that their hand will not be slapped, regardless of how flagrantly and frequently they violate posting rules.

It is these freepers, not your opinions, that have driven good freepers away.

I pinged those who have agreed with me on this thread. They are all good, long-term freepers and there are a couple with whom I have never communicated before in 11 years here.

It would be a mis-reading if you were to take this as a personal affront. It is not. It is a revolt against those who act in your name, to the ultimate detriment of your site.
