ATF's mysterious grenade smuggler case: new photos, documents turned over to Congress

ATF's mysterious grenade smuggler case: new photos, documents turned over to Congress

Evidence photos just turned over to Congress under subpoena show a frightening stash of grenade parts, fuse assemblies and more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition. It was all hidden in a spare tire of an SUV crossing from the US to Mexico in 2010. The accused smuggler, an alleged drug cartel arms dealer named Jean Baptise Kingery, was questioned by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) but released.

Documents handed over to Congress by the Justice Department shed new light on missteps in the grenades case, and how ATF tracked the suspect for years.

ATF started watching Kingery in "2004 related to AK47 purchases," according to an internal email, "it is believed that he is trafficking them to Mexico." A full five years later in late 2009, ATF also learned Kingery was dealing in grenades: he'd ordered 120 grenade bodies on the Internet.

Grenades are weapons of choice for Mexico's killer drug cartels. An attack on a casino in Mexico last year killed 53 people.

Sharyl strikes again! Pity such a talented investigative reporter is saddled with a lousy company.

Remember that casino the druggies burned down? The one where they found like 25 people piled up in the bathroom —folks who fled there for fresh air, and ended up dying?

The druggies started that attack by throwing grenades supplied by this guy, friend of Obama (who also had/has a “intel for hands-off” secret agreement with the sinaloa cartel).

Nice, huh?

Real nice!

Obama is not only bad for our country, but for all the others too!! He and his ilk need to be in Leavenworth.

“The Kingery case and Fast and Furious were both supervised out of ATF’s Phoenix office by Special Agent in Charge Bill Newell.”

"That's not possible," wrote a lead ATF official in Mexico. "We are forbidden from doing that type of activity. If ICE is telling you they can do that, they are full of [expletive]..."

Walking contraband is against ICE policy. I can't believe any moron would allow any contraband, especially guns or grenades walk. ATF is letting guns walk so it doesn't take much imagination to think they are doing the same with grenades.

I think one of the mindsets that might have been warped into these kinds of investigations is a U.S. Attorney's office that doesn't take cases less than 500 lb. of dope. The result being that agent's are looking for the big score that will actually be prosecuted.

The drug cartels control the coyotes that smuggle illegals across to border. The cartels got weapons, Obama got new voters.

The US needs two things -- a border wall with Mexico, and more grenades to Mexican cartels.

I would settle for a FedGov that enforced existing immigration laws and term limits.

Throw in a repeal of the 17th and I'd be really happy.

Remember, inert grenade bodies and inert fuses are not contraband. It is only when these things are assembled into grenades that they are required to have a
$200 tax stamp with them. Owning grenade bodies and inert fuses is not against the law.
