The relatively high suicide rates among gay Scottish men has nothing to do with the problems associated with coming out of the closet. It’s that they’re forced by tradition to wear those damn kilts. On those windy long-winter nights and you get a frosty express making its way up to those private parts of yours, you might get kind of lonely and depressed yourself.
What they don’t hint at....is lesbian suicides...which I would suspect are pretty low (if they don’t mention it).
