Rob Portman - big spending big govt establishment republican - 440+ Billion debt increased (VANITY)
Treasury Direct ^

Posted on 04/22/2012 7:51:40 PM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

Portman is unfit to be anybody's veep at any time. He's a Bushie. NO MORE BUSHs! NO MORE GOP-E! Give smaller government a try!

I spent a few minutes looking into this guy, and according to the ever unreliable Wikipedia

The public debt went up by $469 Billion according to them, and they do point to TreasuryDirect.gov, which I think it's reasonable to say is more reliable.

Just plug in the dates. Portman was held the office of OMB from April 18, 2006 to June 19, 2007. The math works out for me to be around $445 Billion. Still too high.

We gotta keep an eye on the tricky establishment.

TOPICS: Editorial
KEYWORDS: limitedgovernment; portman; teapartyrebellion; veep
Let's not forget ACU scores. Portman only has a current 75%, with a lifetime of 88. No wonder the insiders love him.

And let's not forget David Brooks' fawning over Portman for veep, for McCain. Ugh.

Here's what the establishment as a whole has to say:

Republican Insiders Have A Favorite For Veep: Senator Rob Portman Listen to what these people are saying!

"He's not going to be Palin — he’s not going to be fighting to get in front of cameras, [Portman] knows his place," he one Midwestern committeeman.

I will always oppose the big wigs and powerbrokers of the GOP-E!!! Say no to Portman!

And you will always be a little man who thinks himself larger when he runs down others.

Who would you have us nominate, Stanley Flackmann?

Here are Republican Senator Rob Portman’s positions on some very important issues:

Please go to this site: http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm

Please read Portman’s positions on Immigration — he is for WIDE OPEN borders.
Here more info on his immigration views: http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/congress/623/reportcard/CAREER/

Portman voted in favor of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 — read about the Act here: http://www.heritage.org/research/education/bg1775.cfm

These statements are taken from the Health Care section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: Voted YES on limited prescription drug benefit for Medicare recipients. (Nov 2003) He voted NO on allowing reimportation of prescription drugs. (Jul 2003)

Portman is a free trader like Bush.
This statement is taken from the Energy and Oil section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: He voted YES on starting implementation of Kyoto Protocol. (Jun 2000)

These statements are from the Foreign Policy section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: Voted NO on keeping Cuba travel ban until political prisoners released. (Jul 2001) He voted YES on Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China. (May 2000)
Please read the Free Trade section.

IMHO, Portman is a high priest of the economic theocracy that places the needs of multinational corporations over the needs of AMERICANS. If the Chinese could vote, he would win any office he wants by a landslide.

If Rob Portman came to my front door, I would not recognize him, and I am a total political junkie. All I know is his name, that he is Republican Senator from Ohio, and establishment types that go to governors conferences like to have breakfast with him.

That’s it, that’s all. I knew more about “out of the blue” Palin that I do about this guy.

I would’ve had us nominate Cain, or Newt, or Bachmann, or Santorum. Even Perry.

See post 3. Portman is horrible.

We are being royally screwed by the establishment. They are kicking sand in our faces and laughing about it.

Sarah Palin fighting to get in front of the cameras?

The way I remember it, Sarah was criss-crossing America during the 2008 campaign, busting her butt for the lackluster (at best) McCain.

While Sarah was working hard, McCain was in the upper Midwest telling crowds they had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency. Pathetic.

The Ohio GOP has given us some great RINO’s over the years.

Exactly.

Sarah was out there(well, yeah, fighting to help McCain win) but also out there fighting for conservative ideals!

That’s how the republican establishment looks at us.

It’s just like in the liberal media. No matter what conservatives do, we always lose. We’re always evil, or we’re always up to no good....... whatever.

Not only will it be a likely RINO-RINO ticket, but a BORING and UNISPIRING ONE.

Designated Losers.

They are kicking sand in our faces and laughing about it.

Actually, no. Far too many conservatives are simply siting here crying because our candidate didn't get nominated, and nothing more.

Why should any part of the party help a group that says, "I want it all my or I'm staying home.!?"

Is it too much to ask that the VP nominee not have been at the helm when almost a half a TRILLION dollars in debt was incurred?

You have this exactly backward.

In case you have forgotten, it was the GOP-E who hated, despised, and undermined Reagan.

In 2012, how many candidates peaked? 5 of them.

We conservatives have been more than willing to move.

Who has been unwilling to move? The GOP-E. Not once did they ever give up on Romney. They went out and helped the media with it’s propaganda, in order to reach where they’ve reached today.

——————Why should any part of the party help a group that says, “I want it all my or I’m staying home.!?”——————

Exactly. That’s why so many people around here are so faithfully committed to not voting for Romney or the GOP-E. We’ve seen the establishment for a long time. They will not be moved.
