A prime seat at the Beijing Olympics, nights out with Oxford friends, and a mentor at the heart of the British establishment – this is the gilded lifestyle of the son of the ousted Chinese Communist party leader linked to the death of a British businessman.

These pictures shine new light on the links between Bo Guagua and his Oxford contemporaries, several of whom are now on their way to positions of power and influence within some of the world’s leading corporations.

For Bo Guagua, 24, being the scion of one of China’s most powerful couples was not only an opportunity to enjoy the finer things in life – it also allowed him to build a network of friends with an eye to future business ventures in his homeland’s vast and lucrative markets.

Among his contacts was a key figure in Britain’s modern political Establishment - Lord Powell of Bayswater, a former private secretary to both Margaret Thatcher and John Major.

Oh man that is some story.

I am in the wrong line of work.

How was I to know I should have been born to Chicom parents in order to lead a luxury lifestyle?

Who needs ‘fiction’? Incredible story; wealth, power/intrigue, murder - wound from ‘yearnings’ for economic freedom. . .

Yes; and as for myself; have given up on my 'next life' MO. . .of being Chinese - and super rich. Clearly, not all it's cracked up to be/lol.

Interesting 'aside'/diversion(?) offered in first paragraph by "The Mail" - noting movement of money in last. . .

The Mail on Sunday quoted ''respected Mandarin-language websites'' saying Mr Heywood, 41, died from cyanide poisoning after allegedly having an affair with lawyer Gu Kailai, wife of Bo Xilai, seen until recently as a future leader of China.

(Which; speaking of cyanide; reminds me; when might we learn of final reporting on death of Andrew Breitbart. . .)

Guagua is just one of a cast of tens of thousands of privileged Chicom youth. Take a look at the lifestyles of Mexico’s PRI brats.

When mommy and daddy fall from grace it really ice waters the party.

One of the ironies of the real-world application of marxism/socialism is that after the "dictatorship of the proletariat" is established, power and wealth eventually becomes concentrated back in the hands of a privileged elite which is functionally indistinguishable from a hereditary monarchy. They may use titles such as First Secretary of the Party, etc. but the power and wealth they acquire is passed on to their sons and daughters.

This article is actually only the "tip of the iceberg", as the saying goes, and gives only a rather superficial treatment and indication of what is actually a titanic political civil war and power struggle in China. Here are two discussions of this I recently encountered you might find interesting as well: In Praise of Chumps and Big Trouble in Big China
