GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police say a convenience store clerk stopped a knife-wielding robber by shooting him with a handgun Tuesday night in Greensboro.
In a news release, police said Shawnda Johnny Shelton, 25, of Pleasant Garden, was shot when he tried robbing the EZ Way Curb Market at 2906 High Point Road.
Shelton entered the store with a knife shortly before 10 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, police said.
The clerk responded by shooting the suspect once with a handgun, police said.
Police said officers found Shelton in the parking lot of the store when they arrived. He was taken to Moses Cone Hospital.
Police did not say where Shelton was shot, but described his injuries as non-life threatening.
Nobody else was injured, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are still pending, police said.
Further details were not available.
It would be a happy story, except that the perp has not assumed room temperature.
Good thing it didn’t happen in Flordia or the clerk would be looking at life in prison for 2nd degree murder.
An armed robber was shot while robbing the store, period.

Shawnda? Really? He probably wanted to be shot.
He drove all the way from Pleasant Garden to High Point Rd just to get his ass shot? He could got his ass shot in Julian and not had to cross all those highways.
He was shot across from the Remember When record store near the Jewish cemetery. Over near Florida Skreet(that’s how it is pronounced)
