Deputies: Two People Shot And Killed During Burglary(SC)

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. --

Spartanburg County deputies are investigating a burglary, where two people were shot and killed.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly after midnight Saturday at the 300 Building of Lee’s Crossing Apartments on Powell Mill Road.

When deputies arrived they found two people lying on the ground outside the apartment window behind several air conditioning units.

Deputies say the resident of the apartment building shot the two suspects. One suspect died on the scene, the other was taken to the hospital where he died.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger says Michael Deangelo Gentry-Hill Jr. and Darren Tyree “Ty” Hill both from Spartanburg died from gun shots wounds.

The Sheriff’s Office says there is not a threat to the community. Investigators have spoken with the resident of the apartment and no charges has been filed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing as deputies from both the Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office review and examine evidence gathered during the course of their joint investigation.

At the scene neighbors said they were not surprised at first when they heard gunshots just after midnight. There is hunting in the field across from where they live.

"We hear gunshots all the time, that's where they hunt in the field," said Chiquita Turner. She lives with her kids in the apartment across from where the shooting happened.

She said she agrees with Sheriff Wright and is considering getting a gun to protect herself if this were to happen in her apartment.

Turner said she wouldn't hesitate to fire if her loved ones were in danger.

But this law isn't so simple. Especially after the turmoil surrounding the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida which focused on a so-called "Stand Your Ground" law.

South Carolina State Representative Bakari Sellers introduced a bill to repeal Stand Your Ground here. But in this case protecting your home the place you live isn't just a "Stand Your Ground" issue.

The Castle Doctrine part of state common law for years became official here in 2006. It says you can shoot if someone is trying to invade your residence or business.

Turner as a mother said the doctrine makes her feel more at ease.

Maybe we will get more detail in a future story. Facts seem very sparse for a shooting where two were killed.

The apartment resident arrived home to find the two now deceased attempting to break into his apartment. There so far has not been further news reported about the encounter. I am puzzled by the nearby hunting field comment. That area is within the city limits of Spartanburg.

Seems that way. The MSM, gun grabbers, and race baiters are probably checking to see if they can "work" the incident. If not, it will quietly go away.

Take a look at the video; th,e deceased perps were Amish, as is the woman who approved the shooting and usggested she needs a gun to potect herself and her kids.

The real reason, IMHO, that Sharpton, Jackson, et al, are making a big stink over the Martin justifiable homicide is they and the criminal enablers of the DemonRat party are getting too much heat from the criminal element of that party becdause CCW and self defense laws are, in their view, working too well with to many perps, like the late Trayvon, pushing dasies.

That’s his story and he’s sticking with it? Impossible to tell if he is telling the truth or not.

Good shooting, buddy. You saved us a bunch of money & made the neighborhood a little safer. All burglaries should be resolved as efficiently as this.

That’s what they’re trying to do - make gun owners think twice before shooting an attacker by asking if being crucified by the Left is worth it. It’s bully tactics, plain and simple.

And now for the rest of the story both of the people shot have criminal records according to Spartanburg County Detention Center :
Michael DeAngelo Hill-Gentry- Blue light violation; wreckless driving; purchasing beer/ wine for a minor.

Darren Tyree Hill - 2 charges of burglary 2nd degree; petty larceny; marijuana/hash; false info to police.

Chiquita Turner, WTF! Did her parents name her after a banana? Seriously, that's just a cruel name.
