Sounds nice. I really need to get away from it all. I’d like one week without all the mod cons in a rustic getaway. (ah, heck, I’d be jonesing for FR and talkradio in 2 days! haha)
Give us a book review, when you get it. (I’ll probably pick it up next week)
newsbreak sez another “bipartisan jobs bill” signed.
I say it is another Bohica moment.
He says TDT (wow!, a palindrome) will be his last non-fiction book.
If he does break that promise, he’d better write a book about onion loaves baking and ship said bread to winning callers.
I don’t even bother remembering to tune in anymore-I remembered today and heard a bit of the start of the show.
Sadly it’s crap
I shouldn’t have even bothered to listen.
What a shame, what a shame
The savage nation show has turned into a bad infomercial
“ndless calls about his book not being properly displayed, reading from articles that repeat what he says on air, interviews from other talk shows wherein he repeats his oft repeated talking points makes for terrible radio.”
Sadly, you said it perfectly.
Dr. Savage has done so much good that I will be a fan until the cumulative bad outweights the accumulated (and still climbing) good -- or he retires to write novels and enjoy his well deserved wealth.
Savage does get awed by "my accomplishments and me" -- turn groan-ometer on -- he does swoon over "my and me".
Speaking of groans, it's 3AM here and time for Imus In the Morning.
At 70 years old he still enjoys radio, it sounds like. An old time local talkshow host, Ken Hamblin “the Black Avenger”, was back in town and on a show this morning. At 71 he sounded older and tireder than Doc S.
Who sounded older and tireder than Doc S? Imus?
I emailed Imus after he recently bragged that he was among the top radio personalities of all time.
I told him that the others made it on their own -- while his on-air staff is the reason he has done well.
I hoped to get a reaction on air.. he sometimes has his staff read the emails and names. Then Imus states his opinion of the writer. I have missed most of his shows recently so I do not know if my email was acknowledged.
I skip Imus when he's not there and the fill-in is there to introduce replays of Imus babble. I like his staff -- in fact my next email will be to keep the staff on air when Imus leaves. They can insert random recordings of Imus expressing outrage and name-calling.
The staff's reactions to those are what makes the show. IMO.
I’m glad you made your post. I’ve been trying to remember Hamblin’s name for a week or so. I wasn’t making any progress, so you saved the few hairs I have left. :0)
You can catch it on podcast at the KHOW site. 3rd hour of the Boyles show:
Thanks!
