Under this scenario, Romney’s margin of victory in MI (3%) and in OH (under 1%) would not have held and Santorum would have won these states. Attempting to join up with Santorum is now too late after the horse has bolted.

Yes, they maybe true, but, it's not to late.
What the media, the establishment, Romney and his people don't want people to know is that Rick Santourm next month could very well surpass Mitt Romney in the delegate count.
They are very afraid and scared that Romney is on the verge of losing it all to Rick Santorum.
