With a population of 300 million that is also well armed a standing Federal Army of 500,000 isn't enough troops to occupy Arkansas let alone the entire USA. Even if you add the police that is only a million troops. The standing Federal Army is too small for the statist dream of martial law.

Half the standing Army would throw down anyway if told to occupy a state.

It took Hitler 500,000 troops just to occupy Yugoslavia during WWII.

“Half the standing Army would throw down anyway if told to occupy a state.”

When Qaddafi ordered his army to attack Libyans, more than half the army deserted to the provincial militias, which are equivalent to our state’s guards.

Qaddafi then ordered his mercenary goons to round up eight deserters and execute them. Within a week, his mercenaries were hanging from lampposts as decorations, while others were running like scared rats for the Niger border.

By the next week, Qaddafi had been captured, thrown on the hood of a militia SUV and executed with his own gold-plated pistol. More than 7,000 Qaddafi supporters and mercenaries are in various militia prisons, their fate unknown.

If you’re going to order your military out to kill their neighbors, families and friends, expect the consequences.

Almost half the population would take the government side no matter what, it sends them checks.

Much of the rest would not want to be noticed.

Very few people, relatively speaking, would take up arms AGAINST the government. Hopefully it’d be enough.
