Tim Tebow traded to the NY Jets for a 4th round draft pick with the Broncos.
About 6 mins into the first hour of the program, you will hear him say he was surprised how fast they traded him, and it will give the impression they wanted to get him out of town as fast as possible.
So when they decide they want to get rid of a player they should then wait a couple of weeks just to let the idea steep? Trade offers don’t tend to get better over time, you’ve got about a 72 hour window where the real offers are made, then things dry up because nobody believes you. Meanwhile the free agency period is flying by and you need to figure out if you’ve got that salary to spend elsewhere or not. Yeah they wanted to get him, and any other player they decide to get rid of, as fast as possible, that’s called running a business.
I am not saying who is right or wrong, just what was said. I think they probably traded him right away to get Denver and fans past the talk. Americans have soundbyte memories. If the process would have lingered, the talk and frustration would have lingered. I think they also traded him as a last memory of Josh McDaniel. Erase that history from everyone’s minds and memories.
Well, it’s about 20 million for this year. If he puts up decent numbers they’ll be stuck with him for at least one more year or look incredibly stupid for signing him in the first place. They will not win a Superbowl. They are a couple years away from having a good defense, they have an aging running back and average receivers. Mannings stats against the AFC West are the lowest vs the other divisions, and he’s 9-10 in past playoffs. Maybe if he was 30-32 it might have made sense but 36 years old and after multiple neck surgeries. Bad move. They would have been better signing Jason Campbell who is only 30 and good insurance against Tebow failing, still leaving a ton of cap room to sign more players.
Before Manning signed, it was 70-1 for next year. Now it is 10-1.
I’ve seen odds as 7 to 1 for Denver to win the superbowl next year. Lots of suckers out there. I doubt they win their division this year.
I'll take that at 4-1.
Especially considering all they need to win the division is for Tom Brady to go down.
Wrong division.
Jets and Patriots are in the AFC East.
Yes, but it was odds on the Broncos.
Not sure I agree with that, but think about this: In less than 1 year as Broncos' starting QB, Tebow has one exactly playoff win.
In the last 5 years, Manning has exactly 2 playoff wins.
Perhaps Manning is a bit of what Tebow is not: A CHOKER.
Elway just said those things to make himself look good so he doesn’t appear to be the total pig he is.
