More fun with gas prices: Chu repents"I no longer share that view."

How badly is the Obama Administration terrified of rising gas prices? This badly:

Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Tuesday retracted his now-infamous quote from 2008: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”

“I no longer share that view,” Chu said in response to questioning from Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, at a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on another topic related to DOE’s loan-guarantee program.

That’s from Amy Harder at National Journal, who goes on to describe a bizarre performance by Obama’s energy point man:

Chu seemed to equivocate, pause, and stumble over his words when responding to Lee’s question about high gas prices. Other comments Chu made at another hearing late last month put him in hot water on gas prices. Politico reported on Feb. 28 that Chu told a House committee that he was not working to lower gasoline prices but to wean the United States off oil. That story has since been corrected to clarify that DOE is working to both lower gas prices and wean the country off oil. But that was only after the story was picked up by Republicans and used against the Administration.

During his testimony before the Senate panel on Tuesday, after stopping and starting with a few thoughts on the economy and the department’s commitment to alternatively fueled vehicles, Chu told Lee: “Of course we don’t want the price of gasoline to go up. We want it to go down.”

Tough for the libs when they inadvertantly say what they think. Always gets them in trouble. Better for them to just lie about it... no ramifications.

One way to think about their desire to obtain higher gas prices; they either have to add it as a tax(European model) or if it occurs naturally, they can use it as an excuse to takeover oil companies in this country(Communist model). Doesn't make any diff that rising oil prices primarily benefits not the companies but those controlling the source of the oil(Opec mostly).

Poppong off about how you love higher and higher gas prices as the Energy Czar for Obama in an election year is really not a smart thing to do. Even the buffoons understand the implication of that as they scarpe together money to fill their tanks.

Chu’s actions prove he has not changed. He’s a Marxist.

And on to what? Dilithium crystals?

Oil, coal, natural gas cannot yet be replaced.

“I no longer share that view,”

Of course not...after a "heated" call from his boss.
What an idiot!
Along with Nepoletano.
Along with Holder.
Along with Wassername Shultz.
Along with Jarret.
Along with Pennetta.
Along with Biden.

No wonder "O" is floundering with a "ship of fools" like this tagging along after him. Very sad for America.

These people really do not have a clue.

THE ENTIRE ECONOMY RUNS ON ENERGY.

If you can cut domestic energy prices, everything gets cheaper. America develops and increases it's comparative advantage in goods and services. Jobs and opportunity increase.

If you increase domestic energy prices, you get the reverse affect. Obama is going for higher prices, fewer jobs and opportunity. Combine that with a horrendous debt load. Good luck America if this guy is re-elected.

Mr chu’s pants must be on fire. But not from gas since it costs too much. What a liar. What next? “We’re doing everything we can to lower gas prices”. Riiiiiiiggggghhhhht! With the exception of actually drilling on federal lands or in national parks or anywhere else we have the resources. Same old canard. It wouldn’t take effect for 10 years. If we had started 20 years ago it’d be here by now. Except for the epa. No more epa.

The video clip of this testimony shows Chu blithering incoherently for a good 30 seconds after beginning his answer. He was looking for a way out of his previous statement without repudiating it.

He is a hypocrite and a liar.

He said the anti-petroleum, high gas price statements when under no pressure, thus revealing what he really believes,

and only backed them off when their actual revelation became an impediment to their actual implementation.

Didn't he just affirm his 2008 view within the last couple of weeks before this latest 180 degree turnaround?

Yeah, another comment from the administration’s line of pisants: “we are ready to rule from day 1”

Chu’s family is probably embarrased of him. What a duplicitous loser.

“Chu told Lee: “Of course we don’t want the price of gasoline to go up. We want it to go down.””

From now on, right up to election day, the various administration mouthpieces like Chu will be hiding their marxist agenda and reading straight from the daily talking points put out by Axelhead.

Axelhead knows they are in deep doo at this point.

Liberals never say the truth, they only say something that will advance their agenda. Like the taqiyya of Islam, they are even willing to take one step backwards in order to eventually take two steps forward at some other time.

High and higher prices for energy will mean a quick end to the Left’s ability to impose their socialist Utopia on the rest of us. So, a little give now on the issue of price allows them to keep advancing their agenda in other ways on other days.

The left wants everyone to ride horse-drawn public transit. Life will just be better when everything was organic and natural, and you will all be better people when you are forced to give up your consumptive ways and return to working the soil with your hands. This will cleanse you of your capitalist greed. This is exactly the path that lead the Khmer Rouge to empty the cities and force those who survived into the countryside to work on farms. It was an effort to cleanse people of all the things that kept them from becoming the perfect socialist man.

Question I would have loved to see:

“Secretary Chu, to help this committee understand your veracity, please explain, step by step, your thought process in you abandonment of your longstanding views?”

Ya, like that view wasn't his own, like someone else said it first and he simply agreed with it... liberal muketymucks always get slapped around by reality... everybody now, sing along with me... "I'd like to teach the world to sing, In Perfect Harmony, bla bla bla, b-bla bla bla..."

I was for high gas prices before I was against them. Hey, that line has worked before. Hasn’t it?
