Another '60s Radical – Once Featured On PBS – Finds His Place Teaching Our Children

Unfortunately for traditional America – the one that values independence, free market capitalism and limited government – too many aging radicals from the 1960s and ‘70s have found their way into government school classrooms.

Some, like Bill Ayers, found a home in the hallowed halls of higher academia. Today he collects a pension from the very government he vowed to destroy just a few short decades ago. Others, like Robert Roth, set their sights on K-12 education.

As these former Abbie Hoffman wannabes matured a bit, they realized they had to – in the words of modern-day radical Van Jones – drop the radical pose to achieve the radical ends.

So they don’t call for warfare and setting bombs anymore. They don’t call press conferences and vow to kill the pigs or topple American imperialism.

Their new goal is to alter traditional American culture by indoctrinating the young students in their charge. They spending precious class time teaching our children about their vision of America, which would be equal to all other countries; where the efforts of motivated individuals are sacrificed at the temple of forced collectivism; where the laws are driven by moral relativism and truth that comes in shades of gray.

One example of their work is a documentary called, "It’s Elementary – Talking About Gay Issues in School,” which was deemed “an indispensible and unparalleled resource for all school personnel” by former National Education Association president Reg Weaver.

The film, which unsurprisingly aired on PBS in the late 1990s, chronicles how activist teachers tackle sex issues with young elementary students. One clip shows lower elementary students debating the merits of gay marriage.

Another clip features an interview with one Robert Roth, who was listed as an eighth-grade social studies teacher.

Curious about Roth, I googled him and – funny – virtually the only picture I could find of him was on a 1970 Wanted poster from the Chicago Police Department. Along with Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and other radicals, Roth was a member of the Weather Underground and was wanted for his participation in the “Days of Rage” riots in Chicago.

Prior to that, Roth was a leader of the Columbia University chapter of Students for a Democratic Society. According to U.S. intelligence information made public in an unrelated court case, Roth was a leader of the SDS-led student riots at the college in 1968.

He’s a perfect example of an activist dropping the radical pose to achieve radical goals in our classrooms. And nobody seems particularly concerned about that.

Wake up, America. These people might have grayed a bit and put on ties, but they are the same old revolutionaries who oppose virtually everything that made our nation great. They are preaching their rhetoric to naïve students who believe everything they hear, just because the teacher says it’s so.

And the worst part is that Roth and friends are being paid to subvert American values with the tax dollars of hard working Americans.

Those same hard-working Americans are the only people who have the power to successfully demand that former domestic terrorists be banned from public school classrooms.

They call me a Baby Boomer but I have nothing in common with jerks like that because technically, I’m as much as 13 years younger than the first wave of Baby Boomers. I used to think they were so cool and wise but what does an eight or 9 year old really know? If it wasn’t for the music, I’d have grown up and out of it a whole lot sooner.

I’m still waiting for Hannity to point out that Bill Ayers has his own “war on women”....he plotted to plant a bomb in a womens’ restroom in the Pentagon...obviously targeting women. He also says he does not regret it.

I am a baby boomer too and was caught up in the hippie movement. When I was 16, 1969, I participated in a Vietnam march on Interstate 5 in Seattle. My friend got her head hit by a policeman in one skirmish. At 16, for me it was fun but I also did not like the stories of so many of my fellow boomers being killed by the thousands over seas, 53,000 18-25 year olds were killed in about 10 years of war? Twice that committed suicide in the following years after returning home.

My point, when we saw what was happening to the "peaceful" movement started in San Francisco, turning violent and angry all my friends in high school disassociated our selves from those people. Maybe the turning point for many of us, was when we invited the black panthers to our high school to talk. A riot almost broke out as we were an all white school in a suburb of Seattle and we clashed.

We all asked, "what happened to peace and love?" In retrospect the communists muscled their way into that movement on the college campus' and turned a good awakening to the civil rights of our fellow black Americans to strife and resentment.

5,000 a year.... yes, this to protect democracy and keep the American way. This is nothing compared to the sacrifice of the Greatest Generation

Homeschooling is the answer.

My girls civics lesson is the Bell issue. (my 14-year-old actually teared up when she heard about Andrew Breitbart’s untimely death)
History is Hillsdale’s Constitution course.

We need to overcome this.

The Communist did not muscle into the movement, they implemented the movement from within the ‘establishment’, the Progressive Rats and Rinos. Read ‘Blacklisted by History’ to begin an education about the ‘pimple in time’ called the 60’s.

Here are the links to two sites. One says over 100,000 have committed suicide and the second refutes that statistic. I guess we will never know for sure.

What’s a Rense, LOL!

Nice citation there, and if you are going to post an absurd statistic it is YOUR responsibility to provide a credible source. So I will continue to believe that the phony Leftist claims that Vietnam vets are damaged goods who commit suicide in ridiculous numbers are hooey.
