James Taylor Stumps for Obama, DNC
ABC News ^ | March 6, 2012 | Devin Dwyer

Singer-songwriter and North Carolina native James Taylor says he’s eager to infuse his performances with politics, stumping for President Obama when he tours the United States later this year.

“I am so – I really love this president. I love what it says about America, that we were able to elect this man,” Taylor, 63, said in an interview with local TV affiliate WCNC.

Taylor will hit the road in June and July for 18 concerts, including stops in general election battlegrounds Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Ohio and Colorado, where, he said, he will proudly promote Obama.

He performed Friday at two fundraisers for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., that were also attended by first lady Michelle Obama. The events raised at least $675,000.

“It’s great that North Carolina sets the stage for this event,” Taylor said of the DNC. “I wouldn’t miss it. I will find some excuse to be down here. If asked, I will perform. I’d love to.”

James Taylor, huh? Is he going to be joined by Country Joe and the Fish; Crosby, Stills, & Nash; and Joe Cocker?

And the Democrats are supposed to be tomorrow's party? This guy was stale 40 years ago.

James Taylor, washed-up has-been, made a career of singing songs that all sounded alike.

He was, and still is, and idiot.

A look back: The Dixie Chicks and James Taylor will perform together in October as part of the Vote for Change concert tour aimed at defeating George W. Bush in his re-election bid.

How'd that concert work out for you JT ???

Many years ago, I got upset with all the musicians political views and sent them back their cd’s that I had already bought and paid for earlier. Included with a note saying I don’t like their political views and can’t listen to their music any longer. Not that they cared since they already got money from me. However, I wanted them to know I don’t like their politcal views, it was their music that I liked. Made me feel somewhat better that at least I let them know how I felt. Doubt they even got the message.

Is that the only way he can get people to come out and see him??? I never liked his whiney toned music the first time around. It’ll be even worse as a retread. Yuk.

I appreciate his music, but not enough to go to a concert. And now, not enough to buy any of it.

I always loved his music and even though I knew he had liberal tendencies. I liked his music enough to buy it and listen to it. Now he’s crossed the line. Stumping for obama? Really JT, supporting a commie? We are soooo through!

With this support, Obama has locked up the bald, over-the-hill songwriter vote.

“I am so – I really love this president. I love what it says about America, that we were able to elect this man,”

So, Jimmy, you are more interested in fluff as opposed to substance. For you and your ill-liberal bretheren, it's the appearance that makes the difference, not whether the individual is qualified. These people are pathetic.

JT has always leaned to the left.

Just cause you can write and perform some popular songs, doesn’t mean you have any political savvy.

“Now he’s crossed the line. “

I really don’t care if he’s a lib or not. The deal breaker for me is when he said he’d stump during his tour... I take that to mean, if you go to a JT concert, you’ll get a dose of Obama propaganda.

No thanks, that’s too far.
