They won't have to destroy Romney. They just have to wait around long enough for him to destroy himself.

Something similar could be said of any of the candidates, though in all cases, the Democrats will use their funds to make sure of the destruction.

Don't think Newt or Rick or Ron isn't capable of destroying himself, like the other Rick, and Michelle, and Herman did, or of being destroyed by the Democrats. They don't have the same weaknesses as Romney, but they do have their own.

It's sad. A generic Republican could have won this year, but the right candidate didn't exist or didn't get in the race.

The idea that Romney has some secret hatred of Reagan or the Republicans or Conservatives is silly, though. For better or for worse, he's not that complicated a guy. He doesn't have strong ideological committments. If he'd been that vengeful and vindictive he wouldn't have stayed out of politics for twenty-five years.

This is sort of a test case: can you disagree with somebody, even dislike him or find him harmful without inventing some deep-seated secret agenda and ascribing it to him? A lot of people fail that test. I guess in this, as maybe in nothing else, our generation follows the founders, who could be quite savage about differences of opinion.
