To: who knows what evil?
And just yesterday I was pelted in the face with hail. In southern California at about 900 feet. First time in a few decades. The Western US has been cold for the majority of the winter. Apparently the Jet Stream has been very kind to the mid west and east coast US citizens. The story below reminds me of my college days in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

I normally have four to six feet of snow in my yard, here in NH. Right now, I have 4 inches of ice, damnedest thing. I bought enough wood to withstand what I though was going to be a hellatious winter, with propane at $4.09 a gallon. I got the $4.09 right.

It was 1961. I was driving through Marquette, Michigan on July 4.

And ran into a sleet storm...
