Chuck Colson Reacts to Obama’s “Compromise” on Required Abortion Care for Church Employees

"The president's announcement does not take religious liberty off the front burner," said Colson Center and Prison Fellowship Founder Chuck Colson.

BreakPoint, Colson Center for Christian Worldview and Prison Fellowship Founder Chuck Colson issued the following statement today regarding President Obama's proposed policy changes to the Affordable Care Act to accommodate religious liberty:

"While I'm glad the Obama Administration says that it is willing to address the issue of exempting religious organizations from the HHS mandate on abortion-inducing drugs, contraception, and sterilization, I still have grave concerns."

"To date, this administration has shown an incredible insensitivity to the First Amendment and the free exercise of religion, which means Christians must remain vigilant. The president's announcement does not take religious liberty off the front burner. Actually, the announcement raises more questions than it answers."

"On this issue, I'm from Missouri. Show me. Show me that the president has truly addressed the concerns of religious organizations, and show me how we can know that the Administration won't restore its original plan after the November elections. This is why this matter must ultimately be settled by an act of Congress on behalf of the American people."

I don’t belong to any church or religious organization or work for one but I will not pay for insurance that funds abortions or abortion-inducing “contraceptives.” If King 0bungles edict stands that leaves no policies available for me. My 1st Amendment rights as an individual are as strong as any organization’s rights.

We are getting a tiny glimpse of what will constitute Obamacare. MANDATES FROM HHS! This legislation is wide open and many provisions have yet to be even written. No accident that Obamacare was designed to kick in after 2012.

This is only the beginning. However, Obama may have made a mistake to push this before the election. ( I suspect he wanted to solidify his baby-killing base as well as do a test run.)
