The only “walking it back” would be a short-term reprieve or set of exceptions meant to get them past November. And you can bet your bottom dollar they’d disappear within hours of him taking his second oath.
I hope the Church heirarchy and Catholic faithful are not stupid enough to engage Obama in any compromise or walk back. Such a humiliation will surely stick in The One’s craw like a fistful of overly crispy chitlins. He will come back at us twice as hard with extreme vengeance if re-elected.
I think when Santorum pointed out that the Bishops had supported Obamacare, he was inferring a major problem in fighting Obama on this; i.e. if the Bishops lacked the mental capacity or foresight to deal with this during a process and outcome they supported, how do they encourage followers to respect their leadership and line up behind them now? Obama was THEIR guy, and Obamacare was THEIR solution; now he's not? You want me to follow you where?
I think this calls for a MAJOR Church document which acknowledges the Church's errors in judgement and trust and, most importantly, lays out a clear plan of action (something like a "Contract With Christians") that we can review and sign-on to BEFORE we simply accept their leadership.
Right now I'm really wary of their leadership and I want to see that they 1)understand their errors 2) have a plan and 3) they are COMMITTED.
