As a teenager I saw the Marilyn “Happy Birthday
Mr. President” performance on the evening news, with much additional coverage and chatter. Particular note was taken of the dress she had to be sewn into. I don’t recall any public mention for many years of an affair with JFK. Bobby was another matter, and that came out around the time of her death.
It was known in Los Angeles at the time that JFK and MM had a “thing going on.” They often met at JFK’s brother-in-law’s house in Malibu (that would be Peter Lawford, who was married to JFK’s sister Patricia).
What year? In New York City?
I’m not kidding. Flyover country didn’t see or hear it.
This was when movies had NO nudity and TV had twins beds for married people. TV didn’t even use the word “pregnancy” then. Girls attending college had to live on campus or at home, no apartments. No one lived together without being married.
