Komen apologizes for 'recent decisions,' pledges to continue funding Planned Parenthood
Dallas Morning News ^ | 2/3/2012 | Tom Benning

Komen for the Cure just released the following statement from Nancy Brinker and the Susan G. Komen Board of Directors:

We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives.

The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not.

Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation. We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.

Our only goal for our granting process is to support women and families in the fight against breast cancer. Amending our criteria will ensure that politics has no place in our grant process. We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities.

If there is a causal connection between abortions and breast cancer then giving to a prolife group would be sort of the same as giving to an organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer, wouldn’t it?

If you gave money to Komen this week in support of their new grant policy only to see that grant policy reversed, you can call 800.996.3329 for a refund. They're more than happy to help.

My cousin posted this on Facebook.

FWIW,

You know, I bet if that Keystone Pipeline transported aborted babies instead oil, I’ll be the liberals would have approved it.

On what basis would the research be controversial among pro-lifers?

Actually, the facts aren’t the least bit controversial. It also makes perfect sense when you think it through.

We’re just a society in denial. And Planned Parenthood will do anything to prevent the facts from seeing the light.

There’s a wealth of information on the matter here:

In a roundabout way, I guess. By helping to reduce the number of abortions you’d be reducing the number of breast cancer victims.

Sad. And yet expected.
In recent years I’ve avoided “pink ribbon” grocery items, even of products I normally buy.

**

I have, too. They never fooled me. And they’re usually big conglomerate corporate processed food items anyway.

Big money ...big money.

Hmm, somehow all that ‘big money’ is always tied up somewhere ...

Yup. Cat’s out of the bag now.

I’ve been trying to tell people like my mom for a couple of years that komen was wicked and corrupt.

She would just say “ oh come one” my wife would just tell me I’d been reaing too much FR lol.

Now the mask is off.

Speaking of which the mask of all of these death cult people is really slipping.

LOTS of irate callers this morning - mostly women - who had no idea that Komen has been supporting Planned Parenthood for so many years. All callers said they would stop giving money to Komen and/or participating in Komen run/walk races which raise money for the organization.

the more the merrier...I'm sure there is another group more deserving

I’ve had the same conversations with the women in my “good Catholic family”. The response I always got was, “Where’d you hear that, the internet?”. I guess now that they’ve heard it on the TV, it’s suddenly legitimate.

I expect an ACORN-style rebranding for Komen in the near future. They’re damaged goods now.

Only saw it reported once, but I heard that PP got a huge sympathy boost in donations after Komen yanked funding. Then the reportage returned to the usual crap about Komen caving to pro-lifers. Now they really have caved, and it’ll be reported as a victory for women’s health care.

Especially sad when you realize that continuing abortions will simply increase the number of women who develop breast cancer and keep Koman ‘in business’. God will not be mocked.

This may sound frivolous, but I hope this ends the NFL’s pink month in October. They need to break their association with the SGK organization. NOW!
