What Really Happened in the Gingrich Ethics Case?
Washington Examiner ^ | January 24, 2012 | Byron York

Posted on 01/24/2012 10:04:04 PM PST by County Agent Hank Kimball

"Given all the attention to the ethics matter, it's worth asking what actually happened back in 1995, 1996, and 1997. The Gingrich case was extraordinarily complex, intensely partisan, and driven in no small way by a personal vendetta on the part of one of Gingrich's former political opponents. It received saturation coverage in the press; a database search of major media outlets revealed more than 10,000 references to Gingrich's ethics problems during the six months leading to his reprimand. It ended with a special counsel hired by the House Ethics Committee holding Gingrich to an astonishingly strict standard of behavior, after which Gingrich in essence pled guilty to two minor offenses. Afterwards, the case was referred to the Internal Revenue Service, which conducted an exhaustive investigation into the matter. And then, after it was all over and Gingrich was out of office, the IRS concluded that Gingrich did nothing wrong. After all the struggle, Gingrich was exonerated...."

Long, but WELL worth the read to get the truth about the so-called "Ethics Scandal" Myth is trying to make hay with. Once again, Myth shows himself to be an unprincipled liar.

PING TO ME so I will read tomorrow!

Byron York has come through pretty good for Newt Gingrich and by that I mean, he’s been fair.

Did you see my post to you about your older posts? I linked you back to Jan. 2011.

Thank you for posting this. Based upon what some people post it is painfully obvious the Jon Stewart media has them up to their eyeballs in deception. Ann Coulter you should know better. And people bash Newt for having an 'ego'. There are few among US that could have survived what Newt withstood.

Yep, I sent you a response. Thanks a ton for doing that...but unfortunately all my Newt-defending was in threads started by others, and this only shows threads I started. I am not one of the more prolific thread-starters.

Again, though, I really appreciate the effort.

“Ann Coulter you should know better. “

Ann Coulter has been unmasked. She is the tawdry Harlot at the side of the road - Chris Christie’s pyschological bedmate, enamored with the infatuation of the anorexic for physical bulk.

Christie’s assault on Gingrich was pure Christie - the kind of schoolyard bully who has matured into a monstrous morph of his schoolhouse days.

You know you just made me feel a little slow.

Not until you posted this did it occur to me that this might have a good deal to do with her (apparent) affinity for him.

"Newt was palinized 15 years ago.

yes he was, I said the same months ago. I also told interested FReepers that "they" brought out the big gun for Cain (sexual harassment) but "they" will bring out a fleet of battleships for Newt if Newt gains traction. I feel completely validated in my prediction. Disclosure Newt is my 2cd, not my 1st.

And yet there are still some, even in high places, who think that if they just get on the media's good side, they will sail through the straits.

Clue, free of charge: The media is NOT who candidates need to convince, it is the VOTERS!

For forty years the Democrats held power. The Republicans occasionally were thrown a bone, given cover and some pork to keep their constituents quiet. Meanwhile the congress was enriching themselves at the expense of the nation. The centralized government kept growing and growing…

In 1980 Ronald Reagan is elected President. Newt Gingrich, elected in 1978, jointed with others to ally with President Reagan and build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority - the Reagan Revolution - which directly led to the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy

Gingrich becomes Speaker of the House. Budget cuts, less pork. For the first time in a very long time the Republicans actually had to govern and take responsibility. The Dems were outnumbered.

The 1998 budget was scheduled for a $1 Billion cut and congress saw the gravy train leaving the station. No more getting rich at the public’s expense.

So it became “get rid of Newt Gingrich” even to the extent of manufacturing lies about him. Those phony ethics charges that were ALL dropped. They smeared him then and continue to do so.

And now, older and wiser, he is back. And the corrupt in Washington, D.C., are AGAIN trying to save the status quo.

The question is, what are WE going to do?

This coming election is increidibly important. Please take the time to link to the following, understand what is happening, and who is behind it:

WALL STREET INSIDER: “California”

A longtime Wall Street Insider details the still very much alive and kicking Shorebank, the growing Solyndra scandal, and the globalization goals of the Obama White House.

More accurate to say Palin was Newted 15 yrs later.

In her book she even mentions that what they did to her was the same thing they did to Newt and specifically mentions the whole ethics thing
