Who's Greedy? Obama Gave 1% to Charity, Romney Gave 15%
Fox News ^ | January 24, 2012

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign.

The Obamas increased the amount they gave to charity when their income rose in 2005 and 2006 after the Illinois senator published a bestselling book. The $137,622 they gave over those two years amounted to more than 5 percent of their $2.6 million income.

Romney charitable contributions

Tax year Taxable income Charitable donations Donations as % of income

2010 $21.7 million $2.98 million 13.73%

2011 (est) $20.9 million $4 million 19.14%

Charity is government’s job, because government is caring and responsive.

The Obamas are only good with giving away “other people’s money”

When you are as wealthy as Croesus - are running a permanent campaign for POTUS - that’s just paid propaganda.

Only for the last two years - want to bet it was lower for earlier years.

He’s padding the books now!!!!!

Obama gave billions to Soros, the SEIU, ACORN, the United Auto Workers and plenty of other worthwhile charities.

I wonder how much of the charitable donations by the Obamas were to the one organization where the leader says, God Damn America?

Come on now; “greedy” is not exactly fair. Obama is very generous so long as he is giving away other people's money.

Hey, how’s he supposed to come up with the $18 Million for the Hepburn Manse if he’s throwing quarters at a food bank?

Obama, gees. Not exactly the widows mite there. I notice his donations went up when he first made a political office. Contrived like everything else he does. He must be making donations now at considerable sacrifice considering the cost of green fees these days.

Democrats believe only in giving away OTHER people’s money.
Republicans are much more generous with charity. For example,
my guess is Romney gave for to charity in 2 years than
(Obama + Biden + All democrat senators) combined.

Back at the end of 2009 obama went after off Swiss accounts, 2010 RINO Romney closed his swiss account

I was referring to Romney - but it works for Obama too.

Every elected Federal official leaves office far wealthier than when they entered. It is a disgrace.

They should all have blind trusts and no perks or benefits during and after leaving.

TERM LIMITS!!!!!!!!!!

Buffett to host high-profile fundraiser for Obama

I hate that I share the same intials with Worried Buffoon.

Anyone who can afford to pay $10,000 or more for a dinner with Barry is obviously not paying their “fair share” of taxes.

Leftists don’t believe in charity. They believe wealth should be confiscated by the government and then spent by the government.

Credit where credit is due, Sod. He’s a Mormon and Mormons are expected to give 10% to the Church. A Mormon politician would probably be expected to give more than that.

But, as you say, when you are as rich as Romney is, all that means is the numbers on the bottom of the page are different. It doesn’t entail sacrifice the way a tithe of an income of say $50,000 a year would.

So, I doubt if you will find the figures much different over the years.

$42,000,000.00. Offshore accounts. $100,000,000.00 trust funds for his sons. This guy is the candidate that the GOP Establishment thinks is best suited to run in 2012 America? Against the Chicago machine that feeds on class warfare?

Lord, beam me up.

Democrats only believe in giving to charity when they are using YOUR money, not theirs.

How much was it that Al Gore had given in the year before he ran for president? Wasn’t like $300?

And btw, I don’t understand why Buffet keeps whining about his secretary’s tax rate being higher than his? why doesn’t he just give her a huge raise then? I’m sure he can afford it.

Is it to charity, or to fund anti-Christian activities of his cult, which he is a powerful leader in?
