"Thanks."
Velasco’s nation - or rather its “leaders” - had a moment of collective insanity. He ansered his nation’s call. No oprobrium there in my book.
Amazing story.
I remember watching some of the Argentine pilots attacking the British ships in harbor. Those skyhawks were zigzagging, low and really appeared aggressive.
I did not see any of their bombs hit but they did score some hits. I remember wondering why the British were not shooting them down with missiles.
Pretty cool !
Amazing! They touch on this war in the new movie about Margaret Thatcher — The Iron Lady.
Slightly OT, but in my lifetime I’ve known 2 couples where the husbands bombed the wives’ villages in WWII; and they later met and married. The first couple was an American/German marriage. In the late 1950s, she was cleaning house when she came across some old bombing photos spread out on his desk and recognized her village in the arial shots.
The 2nd couple was an American widower who married a Japanese woman whom he met in business in the 1970s. He also had bombed her village in the 1940s. I think they knew that before they married, however.
