Where is the outrage of our pols and media and even THE PEOPLE over O’Bmbles new rules of engagement that he put in force his very first spring - that gives all the advantage to the Taliban. Read up on that.
It resulted in DOUBLE of our soldiers killed in 2009 - double from the previous highest year back in the beginning.
TRIPLED in 2010. was on it’s way to QUADRUPLING in 2011 (numbers not in yet) - and the media, who ran a daily total under Bush, are quiet, and the politicians and even the PEOPLE are quiet.And a high 90% of Freepers can’t bother themselves
The new ROE means the Taliban get the first shot, means the soldiers aren’t allowed to have weapons locked and loaded on base, means they are often refused air cover when pinned down and being killed because ‘there MIGHT be a civilian” somewhere on the mountain - etc.,
Where’s the outcry when O’Bumbles quietly withdrew our troops from the strategic valleys of the Korengal - that kept the Taliban from filtering down through from Pakistan to Kabul - and gifted the Taliban with the valleys - and great caches of weapons. Our media and pols were silent.
Do you have an inkling of what that did for moral - after our soldiers fought and died in that “Most Dangerous Place on Earth” - always undermanned and under equipped? (And insult to injury, after a year and a half - and after giving the Taliban time to get dug in deep - they (O’Bumbles and team - and attacks in Kabul picked up - “oops” better send some troops back in - only just a handful - ducks in a shooting gallery.

What is our military mission in Afghanistan, because if the military units that are operating there (from top O to bottom E) don’t know that, then we are wasting money and lives? We should pull out now if the mission is unclear. I would support it now.
If our mission is to attack and destroy an enemy, then pxssing on their dead bodies is a great tactic to intimidate an enemy.
If our mission is to win the hearts and minds then this act sets us back.
Public officials should fully understand this before opening their mouth, and much before 20+ yo Marines in combat with lots of adrenaline, testosterone, bravado and patriotism (that 60yos like myself have long forgot except for patriotism. They and us are far removed from those that sent them, who prefer collecting 7 digit pay while living the lap of luxury in an Upper Manhattan Apt..
This isn’t about politics it is about the importance of an absolutely coherent focused military mission understood by all involved.
