WHAT "serious" candates? Palin is the only one I can think of.
Palin is only the most obvious. Jim DeMint could have made a serious run but didn't. Of the 29 sitting GOP governors only one jumped into the race.

Mitt Romney's money scared away a lot of qualified candidates. Even with 24/7 fundraising, these candidates would be at a large financial disadvantage against someone who is willing to spend so much of his personal fortune.
