Independent expenditures.

If I'm a billionaire, and I like Santorum, I can buy a boatload of commercials praising him and damning his opponents, and Ricky hasn't spent a dime (it would be illegal otherwise — can't even talk about it on the phone).

That's the First Amendment. Don't like it, move to China — you aren't American.

Rather than spending time disparaging the $22,000 amount, how about considering the disparity in funds spent between two candidates in a virtual tie. Even if the $22,000 is a typo and should have printed as only $220,000 to Romney's 1.47 million it still lends itself to show a man, a candidate, has his fiscal budget under control and living within his means.

I think there is and will be a movement of people that will migrate away from the outlandish display of the DC elite we saw in 2008 and in the current Administration. It will be a visceral reaction and show of distaste to the perfectly creased pant legs of DC.

This reaction of the public, while unnamed and unrecognized, will be a driving force. I think gone are the days of a politician appearing too slick. Neat, clean, honest, principled, disciplined....not slick, not Hollywood, not this week's rock-star.
