SAN CLEMENTE, CALIF.—For most of her 100 years, Minka Disbrow tried to find out what became of the precious baby girl she gave up for adoption after being raped as a teen.
She hoped, but never imagined, she’d see her Betty Jane again.
The cruel act of violence bore in Disbrow an enduring love for the child. She kept a black and white photograph of the baby bundled in blankets and tucked inside a basket.
It was the last she saw of the girl — until the phone rang in her California apartment in 2006 with the voice of an Alabama man and a story she could have only dreamed.....

On July 2, the phone rang.
It was a man from Alabama. He started asking Disbrow, then 94, about her background.
Worried about identity theft, Disbrow cut him off, and peppered him with questions.
Then, the man asked if she’d like to speak with Betty Jane.
Her name was now Ruth Lee. She had been raised by a Norwegian pastor and his wife and had gone on to marry and have six children including the Alabama man, a teacher and astronaut Mark Lee, a veteran of four space flights who has circled the world 517 times. She worked for nearly 20 years at Wal-Mart — and especially enjoyed tending to the garden area......

This is an amazing story.
If abortion is okay when a pregnancy results in rape, would it be okay for this 100 year old mother to murder her 77 year old daughter?

Wait a minute... I thought rape victims’ offspring were supposed to be better off dead. What’s all this business about happy, successful people? Astronauts, even? Come on, you’re not telling me that Planned Parenthood has lied to us all these years, are you?

Imagine finding out your grandson is an astronaut!! how cool is that.
Or we could just chain her up in the backyard and let her eat bugs to survive since the left will tell us her life is meaningless and worthless and no one would want her based on her “origin.”
Millions of babies in America have had God's plans cut short by the misguided philosophy of "a woman's right to choose."
I love this story and its happy ending. So glad she is enjoying her daughter and family before she passes. She can now go to heaven with her dream fulfilled.
That is so wonderful, glad she could finally know.
I have helped two adopted people discover who their birth parents were. One of them made contact with her siblings last year and it was an extremely happy occasion. I know those things don’t always go well but in this case it made me feel great to have solved the mystery and put them all in touch.
It all comes ‘round again.

What a dear brave lady, so often raped women are shamed into aborting a resultant baby, as if that would somehow un-rape her and make everything right.
This is a woman for whom I have great regard and respect. She is a great example of what a brave and centered lady can be. Hats off.
