Hacker collective Anonymous has just dumped 200 GB of names, email addresses and passwords for around 860,000 Stratfor users. Anonymous also exposed credit card numbers for 75,000 paying customers of Stratfor.

Stratfor, a security think tank, provides reports on international security and related threats to government and military personnel as well as to the private sector.

It is unknown whether Anonymous gained access to other, more sensitive information during the Stratfor hacks, which occurred on December 24.

“The time for talk is over,” wrote Anonymous last night on Pastebin.

“It’s time to dump the full 75,000 names, addresses, CCs and md5 hashed passwords to every customer that has ever paid Stratfor. But that’s not all: we’re also dumping ~860,000 usernames, email addresses, and md5 hashed passwords for everyone who’s ever registered on Stratfor’s site… Did you notice 50,000 of these email addresses are .mil and .gov?”

May this trigger the NSA and DOD to hunt every Anonymous member down and execute them.

Anonymous has done more to aid those that want to regulate the internet than any other event or group.

Can’t open the link, but it’s easy to guess why Stratfor was targeted.

Stratfor is reliable and impartial in its analysis. The hackers didn’t go after Globalsecurity.org, which is a Left-leaning site.

I think this offense should be the equivalent of stealing, or disabling, a man's horse in the old West in the 1800s and should be treated the same.

No, but it may trigger the “Security Think Tank’ to think about securing their data.

You would think, being the sort of organization they are, that they would have better security. That kind of goes with the territory, doesn’t it?

Well, now that the Kenyan has signed the new "Americans Are Terrorists" law, these little monsters can be detained indefinitely as enemies of the state.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it turned out that “anonymous” was being run out of the pentagon as a sort of fast and furious for the internet. Get people all riled up so that they demand more government cyber-policing.

I get STRATFORs free newsletters, so no exposure here but this just pisses me off. It’s going to end up like the cities that prohibit selling spray paint to kids, everyone gets punished for the misdeeds of a few.

“Well, now that the Kenyan has signed the new “Americans Are Terrorists” law...”

I heard he had a whole lot of help from Republicans in the House and Senate.

And the Kenyan could have vetoed it. But he wanted it.

Too bad they are anything but reliable when it comes to IT security.

And almost every Republican in the House and Senate would have voted to override the veto.

Feet first into a live wood chipper.

Standard cannon fuse can come in a 500 foot roll, is pretty cheap, and travels one foot a minute. Twist the fuses together at the feet, wrap the rest around each leg, up across the arms, then across the torso and finally ending around the head.

If you're going to do it, do it right.
