Shocker: Mitt Romney Winning Tea Party Vote in New Hampshire
Sunshine State News ^ | December 19th | Kenric Ward

Posted on 12/23/2011 5:20:13 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

Mitt Romney broke through the tea party barrier Monday, winning that segment's vote in a New Hampshire poll.

Romney beat Ron Paul among tea partiers, 29 percent to 21 percent, the Public Policy Polling survey reported. It was the first time Romney has carried a plurality of tea party voters, with whom the former Massachusetts governor has had chilly relations.

And in a possible leading indicator heading to Florida, Romney garnered 50 percent of the senior vote in the New Hampshire poll conducted by the Democratic-leaning PPP.

Overall, Romney was the choice of 35 percent of PPP respondents. Paul garnered 19 percent; Newt Gingrich, 13 percent; Jon Huntsman, 5 percent; Michele Bachmann, 3 percent; Rick Santorum, 2 percent; and Rick Perry and Gary Johnson, 1 percent.

“...hard to get real conservatives here in the NE.”

Here in Maine, we elected Paul LePage governor in November, 2010. He is a TEA Party conservative, so it can be done, even here in the northeast.

“Hi Newbie.

It was NOT the Tea Party that took down Mr. Cain.

It was Politico, Rove, Marriott
and YOU KNOW WHO: ROMNEY-the-Backstabber. SSDD.”

Well, I'm not a newbie but the fact is that what finally sank Herman Cain were not the decades-old allegations of sexual harassment, but the revelations that he had provided financial assistance to Ginger White for many years without the knowledge of his wife. That he wasn't able to explain and justify this odd arrangement is too bad, because I enjoyed Mr. Cain's radio program for many years and hoped he would find a place on the Republican ticket in 2012.

I don’t see why this is such a shocker. I am a small government, low taxes Republican. My political philosophy seems closely aligned with what has come to be called “tea-party conservatism,” a conservatism that emphasizes economic issues over social issues.

With regard to the 2012 presidential race, my desire is for the Republican Party to have the most economically conservative candidate that can defeat Obama. As of today, that candidate seems to me to be Romney. I do not like Romney’s opportunism, and I like several Republican candidates more than I like Romney; but I don’t think any of them can defeat Obama. It does not shock me that other tea-party conservatives are coming to the same conclusion.

I find this very hard to believe.

It sounds to me like another leftist lie intended to dispirit one of the few, true grassroots movements in this country that actually has a chance of changing the status quo.

And that is the last thing the Statists want.

let me know how it works out.

get back to me in about a year. If he remains rock solid Conservative, then he probably will stay that way.

Run Donald Trump run

The Donald appears to be an Obozo insider, not an apposer. Big public hoopla for Trump when he beat his own drum challenging the Obozo to produce a real birth certificate. This was after the first fake one was presented. So from Trump's public challenge the Obozo produces a second verifiable fake BC where afterward Trump drops the subject even though the doc was proved to be a fake. Sheriff Joe Arpairo in AZ is doing his own investigation on the BC subject and has a number of lawyers and ex law enforcement officers researching the Obozo's history to find his real birth record. Where ever their investigation leads, in order for them to get to the facts obviously requires funding and they are asking for donations to help with the investigation. According to an article posted on Freep a few days ago an individual on Sheriff Joe's investigative staff contacted Trump's office with an appeal for Trump to donate to their cause. One would think if Trump was serious about getting to the truth about the Obozo that Trump would help financially to Sheriff Joe's cause. As reported and to the dismay of those working with Sheriff Joe, Trump never responded to their appeal nor was a donation from Trump ever made. It is reasonable to conclude that Trump is nothing but a distraction when the Obozo needs him and if Trump decides to run he will be the Ross Perot of the 2012 election. If/when Trump announces that he is going to run will be the day team Obozo accepts as fact that Obozo has NO chance of winning a second term. Disclaimer; Trump may have donated to Sheriff Joe's quest and requested that it not go public. But, does that fit with Trump's ego?

OMG Cripplecreek it’s New Hampshire, and it’s PPP as the polling entity. You might as well call it Twilight Zone.

Maine’s governor is the real deal. He doesn’t strike me as the type of man who would compromise his principles, unlike some of our gutless GOP wonders in D.C.

Paul LePage is from a family of sixteen children. When he was very young, his father beat him, dropped him off at a hospital with 50 cents, and told the boy to tell the hospital staff that his injuries were due to a “fall.”

The future governor then lived on the streets, shining shoes and living a life like something out of a Charles Dickens novel. Another family took young Paul in, and when he got older, he graduated from college and became a successful businessman and the mayor of Waterville, Maine.

After being sworn in as governor and in office just a few days, he ended Maine’s status as a “sanctuary” state for illegals.

A few weeks later, it’s was demanded that he attend a specific Martin Luther King day breakfast.....he told the King day organizers to “kiss my ass,” and he said those words in public in front of the media.

Shortly after that, Governor LePage demanded that a mural depicting workers be removed from the Department of Labor in Augusta, Maine’s capital. The governor said that the murals were unfair because they didn’t show the contributions of business owners. The murals were placed in storage.

During the campaign, LePage was overheard telling someone that if he was elected, he would spend a lot of his time telling Obama to “go to hell.”

The GOP won control of the Maine House and the Maine Senate in Nov. 2010, the same day LePage was elected governor.
The GOP hasn’t controlled both the Maine House and Maine Senate since the early 1960’s. Granted, some of them are RINOs, but it’s a start.

I’ve done it too many times and as I’ve gotten older I’m forced to confront the question as a means of answering whether I really believe in God.

Also, a better America begins with better people.

Only bad things can happen to Romney in New Hampshire. Anything less than a big win there and he's in serious trouble.

I'd LOVE to see Newt take him out there. It would mean the end of Romney's 5 year campaign to be president

I will not ever vote for Mitt Romney. No, not ever. Before any “less discerning” “conservatives” attack me for that stand you damned well better be able to show me iron clad proff that there are at least three major policy differences between Romney and Obama.

And you better be able to back it up NOT with what Mitt has said but what he has DONE.

Shocker: Mitt Romney Winning Tea Party Vote in New Hampshire

Shocking?

Not to ME!!

With NO Democrats to chose from, they can switch and really SCREW UP the Republicans!

It is not a closed primary, in which votes can be cast in a party primary only by people registered with that party. Undeclared voters — those not registered with any party — can vote in either party primary.
