Shocker: Mitt Romney Winning Tea Party Vote in New Hampshire
Sunshine State News ^ | December 19th | Kenric Ward

Posted on 12/23/2011 5:20:13 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

Mitt Romney broke through the tea party barrier Monday, winning that segment's vote in a New Hampshire poll.

Romney beat Ron Paul among tea partiers, 29 percent to 21 percent, the Public Policy Polling survey reported. It was the first time Romney has carried a plurality of tea party voters, with whom the former Massachusetts governor has had chilly relations.

And in a possible leading indicator heading to Florida, Romney garnered 50 percent of the senior vote in the New Hampshire poll conducted by the Democratic-leaning PPP.

Overall, Romney was the choice of 35 percent of PPP respondents. Paul garnered 19 percent; Newt Gingrich, 13 percent; Jon Huntsman, 5 percent; Michele Bachmann, 3 percent; Rick Santorum, 2 percent; and Rick Perry and Gary Johnson, 1 percent.

You have always been with backstabber Romney.

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

There is a lot of things to dislike about Romney but on a ‘family values’ platform he is hard to beat - seems about as squeaky clean as they come in that department.

Personally I think Romney is the only one that can beat Obama (for precisely the reasons he is disliked around these parts, because he is not very conservative) - whether or not he can win the nomination is a whole other question....

This is a dopey thread. NH is the home of the peasants with pitchforks. Buchanan and the old Flat Tax Jerry Brown/Steve Forbes did great in the Granite State. In the last election the Dems lost 300 seats in a 400 seat legislature after their rising tide in 2006 and 2008. There are Teep’s everywhere. It’s a mish mash of lefty’s, RINO’s and Teep’s. Just like every friggin’ place else.

That said, Romney has super close ties to the state. The Boston & Manchester TV stations only cover him and Gingrich. Newt is being swept along by the Union Leader while the Sununu’s (and the old GOP’ers) hate Gingrich. There is a news blackout on Santorum and Bachman.

As a simple matter of “who can win in the end” it’s obvious why folks would lean toward Mittens. What possible good could come of nominating Santorum or Bachman (my faves) and losing 40 states so we can all be pure and Obama gets 4 more years to dismantle our wonderful country ?

All we have to choose from is Newt, Mittens, Santorum, Bachman and Paultard ! This after the McLame and Dole fiascos. If you take the leap that Gingrich is a ticking negative-ad time bomb and not really that conservative and we MUST win the election what else are you going to do ? Write in Coolidge?

Well, I've been to Tea Party events down here in San Diego for about the same length of time as you and most of those folks were palin fans or Ron Paul nut infiltrators. Just goes to show, you don't know everything!

Nobody that calls themself a consevative would ever support Mitt RomneyCare. You are the delusional one, my friend...

IIRC, anyone can come to NH, claim intended residency (or something like that) and register as whatever you want.

You will see loads of cars with Massachusetts and Maine plates at the polling places in NH on Primary Day...draw your own conclusions.

The way the Tea Party betrayed Herman Cain, they don’t deserve to be taken seriously anymore.

n00b, you tryin' to prove you need zotted?

In case you're not a troll, here's a free Clue: It wasn't the Tea Party.

The Tea Party is not a “Party”. Anyone can claim to be a member, but only those who are anti-establishment are members in spirit. Romney is THE Establishment. No real Tea Party supporter would vote for Romney.

Apparently the TEA party isn't what it used to be.

Yep. I’m wondering why someone that says he’s supported Romney since his first run is still on FR?

We have to pick from the available field. Who’s a better option? Perry would have been, but fell hard. Santorum and Bachmann simply can’t win it. Bachmann isn’t prepared to be president, and Santorum has the resume but doesn’t exactly light up a room.

How anyone in NH can support Romney is beyond me - All media in NH comes out of Mass. Conservatives should be fully aware of Romney’s lib tendencies.

He hasn’t fooled me.

Apparently he has been a long time Romney supporter. Therefore he has not been a real Freeper for over 4 years. He's been an imposter.
