The day the tea party embraces Mitt Romney is the day the tea party accepts defeat
Vanity | Dec 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/17/2011 12:08:08 PM PST by Jim Robinson

First there was the Reagan Revolution, then Newt's Republican Revolution, and now the Tea Party Revolution.

In each successive revolution, the lovers of liberty threw off a bit more of the yoke of the oppressive ruling class to reestablish some vital part of our God given liberty and freedom.

Pro-life, small government, big defense Ronald Reagan set and accomplished the goal of bringing down the socialist Soviet Union as a threat to the world and reestablished free America as the dominate superpower. He rescued America from the hapless Jimmy Carter who had dragged the nation down into to the depths of despair. Reagan taught us that our best years were indeed yet to come. He reinvigorated our economy by reducing government regulations and taxes and created a free market environment ripe for capitalism to flourish. A lover of life and freedom, he fought off the socialists and merchants of doom and death at every turn and sparked the beginning of the decades long Reagan Economy. He was a champion of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and he delivered us from evil.

Pro-life, small government, big defense Reaganite, Newt Gingrich, set and accomplished the major goal of wresting the congressional majority away from the socialist Democrats who had held it for forty years. His conservative Republican Revolution cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the deficit, cut unemployment, blocked President Clinton's progressive agenda, blocked HillaryCare, reformed welfare, defended life, and balanced the budget four years running, ensuring that the Reagan Economy flourished and stretched throughout his term and beyond.

Mitt Romney set goals of protecting and sustaining abortion as safe and legal in America. He sought to be more radical than Ted Kennedy in respects to "gay rights." He swore to defend Massachusetts' strict gun-control laws that "kept us safe" and promised not to chip away at them. He set and accomplished the goal of bringing big government healthcare solutions to his state and mandating that all formerly free citizens must purchase a government approved product or suffer a tax penalty. He loves mandates against the people.

He stated that he was an independent during Reagan-Bush and he was not returning to Reagan-Bush. And he didn't. Instead, he delivered taxpayer funded abortion, gay marriage, gun-control, socialized healthcare, busted budgets, ruined economy, liberal activist judges and a destroyed Republican label.

Romney was and is demonstrably per record an anti-Reagan, pro-big government, pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, pro-gun-control, anti-liberty, pro-socialist healthcare, mandate-loving, liberal judge appointing, budget busting progressive.

He is without a doubt the exact opposite of Reagan, Gingrich, the Reagan Revolution, the Republican Revolution and the Tea Party Revolution.

If the Tea Party now embraces Romney, it will have accepted defeat and surrendered to the ruling class.

There is a reason why the elite establishment GOPers are pushing the anti-Reagan Romney and rejecting the pro-life, Reaganite Newt Gingrich. And I guarantee you, it's not in the best interest of the Tea Party or the Liberty we seek.

Not on my watch!! No Romney, no way!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

What if Romney eventually becomes the GOP nominee, and in Nov. '12 it's either him or another 4 years of America's Chickens Coming Home to Roost?

Romney, by virtue of his lack of contrast with 0bama, is probably the weakest GOP candidate who could be nominated in 2012. The resultant de-energizing which would consequently occur within the TEA party base would be a critical factor in the general election, quite possibly tipping the situation in 0bama's favor.

Absolutely agree! No matter if he is the last man standing, do NOT endorse him. NEVAH! Do what you want on election day, and do whats best for the country, but there should be NO endorsement for Romney by the Tea party.

When a storm is on the way, some folks shake in fear and speak of their impending doom. Others stand strong, look into the eye of the storm and... learn to dance in the rain.

We, together, will get through this storm.

President Newt Gingrich.... fight FOR it, it’s going to happen.

Ditto for NEWT "THE PROGRESSIVE". Is there any way you guys can dust Cain off and bring him back? Or Palin? Or West? Does Paul have the steam to cook these two turkeys?

Newt-Romney, Mitt-Gingrich....six of one, half a dozen of the other.....both of these butterballs occupy the same freezer bin. Do either of those birds have the guts to cut government in half? Because that is what the math says is necessary. I seriously doubt it.

What you simply MUST understand

I agree with that assessment 100 percent.

I cannot vote for such a liberal as Mitt Romney who is anti-life, anti-gun, anti-natural marriage, and anti-small government.

There is nothing in that that is any better than Obama.

Therefore, I will vote write-in (Palin) or 3rd Party (Constitution) depending on which looks like the better choice.

Ethically, I cannot support Romney. I can support trying to start a conservative party or support an existing conservative party that has nominated a real candidate.

Thanks, Jim! My pet Romney peeve is that he’s a pandering liar. Pays for an NRA Life Membership, gets his picture taken at Shot Show with LaPierre, announces that he’s a lifelong hunter and gun owner, all in a two week span. Except that he’s not a hunter, and, well, does not nor ever has owned a gun.

Thanks for this thread Jim.
______________

Romney is just another throw-back RINO who wants to “go along to get along.” (Everything will be just fine as long as we continue to cave-in to the left as the left continues to move to the left, until there is nothing left of America.) Time and events have passed him by, as well as the 24 % of Republicans who still believe that America is back in the “I Like Ike” Era.

Romney and his supporters do not realize that the US Federal Government is in the early stage of a terminal financial death spiral. The “can cannot be kicked down the road” anymore, because the “road” ended when our Total National Debt exceeded 15 TRILLION dollars.

Those of us in the 53 % that pay personal FIT and who are TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY know that ANY Federal Politician who does not reduce the US FEDERAL Government baseline spending is, to use the frog in the pot of water analogy, turning up the heat under the pot that we, the former “Silent Majority” and are now the TEA Party, politely float in.

Romney is one who will “turn up the heat on our pot of nearly boiling water.”

To borrow a quote from the flag-page of a VERY wise FReeper:

“-— “When my country, into which I had just set my foot, was set on fire about my ears, it was time to stir. It was time for every man to stir.”

Thomas Paine, Common Sense US patriot & political philosopher (1737 - 1809) - - - “

With Paine’s quote in mind, let us examine ourselves a bit.

Do we sit politely on our hands and let the counter-culture manipulate us?

If so, do we even recognize that we are being manipulated?

In my humble, but ALWAYS correct opinion, manipulation by the counter-culture is done by the following:

Racial profiling; Freedom from Religion; The American Civil Liberties Destruction Union (ACLDU); charge of being a Right-Wing Extremist, Right-Wing Hypocrite, Right-Wing Millionaire, Right-Wing Businessman, etc.; and of course, that all inclusive violation of the non-existant, (thank you Reagan for your timely veto), Fairness Doctrine.

Feel free to add to this manipulation list, as it is high time for us to shed the self-imposed tolerance of the shackles that keep us from living up to the standards that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to set in place for us, the polite frogs that just float around in the almost boiling pot of hot water.

If conservative Republicans vote for Romney they will own him. He will be compelled to pay back those who voted for him.

That is not accurate.

I'm a conflicted Constitutional Christian conservative/economic libertarian when it comes to Gingrich for several reasons. It really appears he's the best of the lot right now. But I find myself thinking about the upcoming 2012 POTUS debates. The debates, of course, will be run by The One's campaign organization, the MSM, so our guy will have a significant disadvantage before the opening bell. If Obama is close to Gingrich at the time of the debates, we could be in trouble. We know the questions will be slanted toward Obama. But if Obama is close, then probably it will be formatted so they have almost no time to answer. It will mostly be a fashion show. I think the slender, black, and smooth Obama wins the fashion show against the the fat, white-haired wrinkly dude.

I see two possible and radically different scenarios in the debates:

1) Despite the slanted questions and format, the short, fat wrinkly dude skewers The One in the debates and somehow wins the hearts of enough American people to win, or

2) With the help of his MSM organization, The One gets the questions that lets him show his best side, parries Gingrich's attacks, counters effectively with carefully orchestrated attacks of his own, and is left looking like the slender "cool" guy against a fat old wrinkly guy.

What can we do? Pray hard and hope for the best. Maybe somehow yell PALIN!!! hard enough to change her mind. That's about all I can think of right now.

Dude. Chill. You don’t get to determine who is ZOTTED. The guy expressed an opinion, and Jim Robinson himself responded with a reasonable, respectful yet unapologetic answer.

Jim is pretty good at figuring out who is a blatant RINO and who is a conservative with an alternative point of view, trying to find a way to keep Hussein from staying in power...which is one reason to thank the man for FR.

“If people get ZOT’d merely for expressing a different opinion, you don’t have to ZOT me. I’m outta here.”

Newt, with all his flaws and imperfect record, is more conservative than Ann Coulter. Personally, I’m sick of her being quoted and posted here on FR. Were it up to me, anything linked to her would be zotted, and anyone peddling the harlot would be zotted as well.

I am a social/moral conservative...and even I can see that Newt, overall, is the only real choice left to us.

You are fortunate that Mr. Robinson is more forebearant than myself. For supporting “Ann Coulter” is equivalent to supporting Mitt Romney.

I’ll say this for Noot:

He’s no wimp, and if presented with an improper debate question, he’ll change it to a proper one, and answer that.
