In a perfect instantiation of green conservatism, the Gingrich campaign has been fuelling a bandwagon entirely on Newt's hot air. It is nearly midnight, however, and therefore almost time for that bandwagon to turn back into a pumpkin (or rather, lemon), which will leave those conservatives who are a little too focused on the manufactured issue of "electability," and who had almost been persuaded to hold their noses and vote for Gingrich, to return to the drawing board in search of someone who can defeat President Obama. They will (and should) ultimately decide that the answer to their quest was standing before them all along, and that it requires no theoretical compromise after all. The answer is to support a genuine and unequivocal conservative, Michele Bachmann.
For while many of the Republican candidates might be able to defeat the disaster that is Obama, Bachmann would be able to do it in a manner most satisfying for conservatives, namely one which draws attention specifically to the nexus between constitutionalism and the moral tradition of American-style individualism.
Think back to the fall of 2008. Once the shock value of choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate had begun to wear off, John McCain's presidential campaign sputtered through one missed opportunity after another.

I like Bachmann. She is a consistent conservative but unfortunately, she has yet to convert to catholicism so the catholic freepers hate her.
Michele Bachmann has damaged the considerable goodwill she brought into this campaign. If she wants to have future relevance, she should do what is best for her, the party and the country and enter the 2012 Senate race against incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
Klobuchar is an Obama rubber stamp, very liberal and at this point has no strong GOP challenger. Her polling is solid at this point but hasn’t faced any scrutiny.
I liked Michele a lot going into this presidential primary, but she has not made a case that she should be elevated to the presidency at this point in her career. If only she would take all this energy attacking Gingrich and go to her home state and aim at Klobuchar, Michele could do a lot of good for the country and herself. The problem I see is that she would have difficulty and a very tough challenge in a Senate race in her home state. This says a lot about her readiness to compete nationally for the presidency.
You may be correct.
I wish she had been happy with her seat in Congress where she has a solid voting record. I could never see her as president; AFAIK she has no executive experience, and her problems keeping facts straight and retaining staff in her Congressional office would probably doom her in the general.
Playing for a Romney veep spot IMO.
Wow. The Bachmann haters are out in force—all the people who want a “Republican who can win,” even if he doesn’t change anything. Newt is a glibber, more articulate version of McCain. Instead of reaching across the aisle, he squats on the same sofa as Mafia Nancy Pelosi, falling for crackpot frauds like global warming, massive Federal intervention in health care, etc.
I’ll have what this guy’s drinking.
Newt has no executive experience either, not that that alone should be a disqualifier; we don't want a POTUS who thinks he should micromanage the world and "create jobs," we want a Constitutionalist counter-revolutionary. Opponents of Bachmann have chanted over and over that no one has ever been elected from the House, but that's the only govt. service Newt has also. Romney has plenty of "executive experience," but no true conservative would want him.
IMO and rarely do I step out to disagree with Rush or Levin, she could NOT beat Obama. The American people are not ready to have a woman as commander n chief. MB and Santorum both lack a command presence. They simply don't look like they would be in charge. MB does not look the part because she's an attractive women. Santorum just looks to young or something but he just does not look like the boss. It's hard to describe but you know when you see it and neither of the two have it.

There is a reason why it is rare for a member of Congress to get elected to the presidency.
They generally lack wide appeal.

A former Speaker of The House is far more prepared for the presidency than some unaccomplished backbencher.

There is no policy difference between Newt and Romney. They have betrayed conservatives over and over again. Newt’s lunatic amnesty plan is absolute show stopper. Local “citizen” boards in CA given the power to grant amnesty? What a jerk.
