I might agree with you except we have no one else who can be looked at as the perfect candidate. I have no idea if Perry can pull this off, but then, who can? I don't know. This seems to be a matter of timing and given enough time, they all seem to shoot themselves in the foot which brings them down and the next in line rises.
Who is next? Gradually, Perry's "heartless" statement doesn't seem so relevant. Perry still has the record.

“Next” should be Santorum. I fear he will be out of the race, and I won’t get to vote for him on March 6, 2012.
