The Red Card Solution - White Paper (Krieble Foundation's immigration proposal referenced by Newt).
The Vernon K. Krieble Foundation ^ | 5/1/2011 | Helen E. Krieble

Overview Turning a Complex Problem into a Simple Solution Very few modern political issues have proven more divisive, polarizing, and difficult to solve than the illegal immigration problem. It has divided Republicans and Democrats along stark partisan lines, but the divisions run much deeper. Proposals to reform the nation’s immigration system have also divided traditionally aligned factions: labor unions and civil rights groups, business associations and conservatives. Administrations and Congresses have struggled with the issue for years, unwilling to act on any reform for fear of alienating one constituency or another, paralyzed to the point of virtually ignoring one of America’s most pressing issues.

Newt referenced the Krieble Foundation's proposal and asked the audience to take a look at it. Ok. Here it is. I'll give it a read. Perhaps it will clarify a few things for folks... Can't hurt.

It starts with the usual canard, “we need immigrants to do the jobs Americans won’t do.”

Newt says you can't send them all back (which no one suggested - self-repatriation is the goal), then throws out the Krieble Foundation.

He seems to have missed this part of the Krieble Plan:

The solution would seem much simpler if leaders understood that the vast majority of illegal workers in theU.S. are not here seeking citizenship, or even permanent resident status. They are workers with families to support back home, and they have every intention and desire to return home.

Well, if they all want to go home, according to Newt's Krieble Plan, then what's so difficult about getting them to leave? Hell - pay their way back first class and give them $10,000 cash and the place will clear out overnight according to Krieble.

Who ever claimed that Gingrich was smart? The same ones who call Obama a genius I guess. Newt is history. Looks like Romney will be the last guy standing, with Bachman as his Veep.

Like it or not, it’s a multifaceted complex solution to an out of control problem. I never heard any of the other candidates offer anything nearly as substantial as this proposal. I doubt that any of the other candidates had even heard of the Krieble Foundation....that’s how far in front he is from the rest.

So....no one’s explained where the problem is with simply enforcing the laws on the books.

Here’s a better solution....

Meritocracy.

Issue temporary work visas based TOTALLY on pay.

Highest paid?

You get a temporary work visa.

How many work visas should be issued each year?

That’s a political question that must be debated each year.

By the way....

For the last 10 years, new immigrant citizens have voted 80% for the Democratic Party.

I agree that the proposal looks like another disguised amnesty program. I cannot find anything in the document about dealing with the perhaps 20 to 30 million current illegals. The document emphasizes a new guest worker program. I support a new guest worker program with very careful limits about the size, family restrictions (no families), status of anchor babies born during the guest worker period, government benefits (few or none), and other areas. The document seems to imply that all illegals here would become guest workers. Any such program is simply amnesty.

The document is overly optimistic. A restricted guest worker program would probably not absorb all who want to come. In particular, many illegals come for government benefits. The guest worker program would be irrelevant to this group. I also suspect that employers could undercut competitors by hiring illegals rather than guest workers because of tax evasion and lower wages. Democrats would surely load up a guest worker program with many employer mandates.

The solution is simple: secure borders, enforce existing laws, stop the flow of government benefits to illegals, and provide a new but limited guest worker program. Elimination of anchor baby status is also important although it may be difficult to accomplish. I do not advocate any mass deportations. Enforcing laws and elimination of government benefits will induce many to return voluntarily. Illegals that avoid law enforcement and stay in the shadows would not be subject to deportation raids. Illegals that have contact with law enforcement through lawless behavior (such as DUI) would be subject to deportation, hopefully efficient deporation proceedings.

Good arguments....

I made similar arguments - relative your your simple solutions - in other threads.

I read it earlier this AM after first learning about it.
If you read the preface in my post, it said “like it or not”...you’re obviously a “not”. No need to reply to me.

So comit the crime long enough and it becomes okay?

That is retarded.

How long do you have to rape a girl (in this case: taxpayers) for her to become yours legally?

your right, but watch them all try to play CATCH UP now. Newt’s ideas are catching on, and this will not hurt him.

Wishful thinking on your part. I had hopes for Newt until he couldn't shut up last night. This was a typical Tokyo Rove move, you know the one that cost us both houses.

A spokes lady said: "..... foreign workers do not have to wait years for approval....."

Obviously all the benefit goes to the domestic employers and foreign workers.

What about clearing the decks of 20 MILLION UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS FIRST?

The Krieble Foundation looks like another anti-American scam. Newt better get this cleared up quick or HE'S OFF THE SHORT LIST!
