For water, keep a supply of charcoal on hand.

Charcoal can take care of most impurities.

Wow. Didn't know things in Argentina were THAT bad.

Sobering read for Americans as our nation embarks on the long march to the Third World. Hopefully there's enough of a residue of Christian morality and good sense to arrest the slide before things get to that point, but it might be wise to start mentally filing such advice for future reference.

Guess I know now why the world's best player, Argentinean Lionel Messi, plays his soccer in Barcelona.

Day 48 Of The FReepathon
Do You Know Why?

There are loyal posters that donate every FReepathon. Some donate several times during every 'thon. But others never donate. Why?

1 My enemies haven't been zotted.
2 The owner doesn't support my candidate.
3 FR won't "upgrade" to "Like" buttons and blinky crap.
4 Someone else will donate.
5 My friend was zotted.
6 I lost my job and have no income.

Only one of those is a legitimate reason.

Support It Or Lose It

IF the SHTF

1. Any gun is better than no gun as long as you have ammo. (see #2)

2. The 22LR will be the most useful weapon of all. You can buy years worth of ammo now for a small investment. They are accurate, and It will bring down all small game, wild and domestic (there won’t be much big game to bring down after a few weeks). Though they are not the best choice for home defense after the SHTF, the bad guys will have a hard time getting bullets for their guns in a short time, while you have thousands. Nuff said on that. The report does not carry far, giving away your position, and all members of the family can use it. (see #3). Oh, and you can still have your large bore defense weapons if it comes down to “them or you” situations.

3. Children need to learn how to shoot and defend themselves early on.

4. Big cities will become kill zones. Get away from them early.

5. Evil people without any fear of authority or restraint will become more evil.

6. Some medical training and knowledge would be beneficial, even if it’s just first aid.

7. Disease will become a part of life.

8. Learn how the American Indians survived in your area. The plants or roots they ate and used for medicine, how they trapped and cooked fish. Lots of books available now on the subject. Buy them now.

9. And for God’s sake learn how to obtain and sterilize water .

Its not like they’d be crazy enough to re-elect that crazy lady.

Oh, never mind.

They did.

The author, Fernando "FerFAL" Aguirre, has written a marvelous book on the topic: The Modern Survival Manual: Surviving The Economic Collapse. He is also a FReeper. Highly recommended.

Great information from one who has lived it, and with no illusions. I've purchased Fernando's book, and it is well writeen despite his claimed challenges with English - there's a keen intelligence at work there.

Consider this quote: “It’s the collapsed country, a country that turns into 3rd world country like in pyramid five where there is almost no middle class to speak, one huge low, poor class , and a very small, very rich, top class.”

What that describes is the essence of an Asiaitic despotism: 5%-10% of al elite are propped up and supported by the rest in a form of slavery/serfdom. This is pretty much the way that most of the world operated for a very long time. Here's how Carroll Quigley describes it in an excerpt from his landmark Tragedy and Hope

We have already indicated the nature of Arabic despotism in connection with traditional China, the old Ottoman Empire, and czarist Russia. It goes back to the archaic Bronze Age empires, which first appeared in Mesopotamia, Egypt, The Indus Valley and northern China before 1000 BC. Basically, such an Asiatic despotism is a two-class society in which a lower class, consisting of at least nine-tenths of the population supports an upper, ruling-class consisting of several interlocking groups. These ruling groups are a governing bureaucracy of scribes and priests associated with army leaders, landlords and moneylenders. Such an upper class accumulated great quantities of wealth as taxes, rent, and interest on loans, fees for services or simply financial extortions. The social consequences were either progressive or reactionary, depending on whether this accumulated wealth in the possession of the ruling class was invested in more productive utilization of resources or was simply hoarded and wasted. The essential character of such an Asian despotism rests on the fact that the ruling class has legal claims on the working masses, and possesses the power (from its control of arms and the political structure) to enforce those claims. A modified Asiatic despotism is one aspect of the social structures all along the Pakistani-Peruvian axis.
If you think about it, this is the goal of those behind 0bama - a modified Asiatic/Arabic despotism with most of the world dead and the rest in chains.

There is no limit to what I would to prevent that from happening to me, my family and my country.
