A 75-year old woman was fighting for her life last night after she was viciously beaten in the early evening on a busy Midtown street by a hulking homeless man wielding a nail-studded wooden plank.

The victim was walking on East 40th Street near Madison Avenue at around 6:15 p.m. when Andre Lineaux, 51, allegedly attacked her, cops said.

Witnesses said the assailant first shouted curses at the woman and then beat her senseless with the five-foot, 2-by-4 chunk of wood.

good thing it was NYC where only the famous and politically well connected are allowed to get carry permits. If she were carrying someone could have gotten hurt. Bicycling in the city belongs only to the messengers - those sub-criminals who kill pedestrians not other cyclists. Only the hypochondrical, drawfish mayor supports bicycle lanes and, maybe, that piece of work, Christine Quinn. Koch tried it in the 70s and it bombed big time.

I can’t wait for TB to break out in Liberty Square Park and frighten Hizzoner; my only concern is that it might hurt the people who work and live there.

Inspector Callahan was anything BUT ‘corrupt’. But I agree with you, what is needed is for the civilian population of NYC to be armed and for a ‘Castle Doctrine’ to be made law, which will prevent law abiding citizens from being prosecuted for defending their homes (from armed invasions, etc), and there need to be laws similar to those in Florida which recognizes the necessity of a potential victim of violent crime, when confronted by their attacker, to simply open fire and blast their ass away, instead of running for their life.

When the mice start pulling guns on the predatory cats, the cats are going to GTF outta Dodge.
