In the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Senate is currently controlled by the democrats by two seats. It'll be an interesting night.

Probably because he is liberal in comparison to Miller and he ran a trash campaign.

20/20 tie at this point. Still a gop pickup if this holds. As the Lt Gov is gop, the gop wins the tie.

This is going to go late into the night.

Republicans generally have taken Tidewater/Va. before Obama.Va is and will return from blue to a red state.

Beshear re-elected Ky. governor over 2 challengers Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has been re-elected, becoming the second Democrat to win a U.S. gubernatorial race this year amid lingering economic uncertainty that's already proving worrisome to President Barack Obama's 2012 effort. Beshear easily overcame challenges from Republican David Williams and independent Gatewood Galbraith, in a conservative state where voters routinely elect Republicans in national races. With 50 percent of precincts reporting, Beshear had 241,211 votes or 58 percent, to 131,319 votes for Williams or 31 percent. Galbraith had 44,893 votes or 11 percent.

So it is still possible that the Republicans take the Senate?

Nice job, considering Hussein’s fraud machine is probably working overtime.

“This district is such a mess. What exactly does the Eastern Shore really have in common with Virginia Beach, let alone Norfolk, other than water?”

Nothing. Other than we’re gerrymander bait in Richmond.

I heard the GOP challenger in Kentucky was a D- level candidate to put it generously.

Bobby Scott has the worst gerrymandered district.

I know, it was pretty much a rhetorical question, as the population of the Shore is not enough to constitute a Senate district for ourselves - not that I’m complaining about that mind you, just sayin’.

The VA emissions inspection depends on where you live. It’s not statewide. You weren’t here when we had to pay a car tax every single year. But they made up for that by now charging (in some counties, including mine) a “registration” fee. They ARE going to get their $$$ one way or another.

But, welcome, hope you enjoy VA as much as I have ... moved her 46 years ago, left for 5 years, but returned 31 years ago! Really don’t want to live anywhere else. (vacation homes elsewhere might be another thing)

“Republicans generally have taken Tidewater/Va. before Obama.Va is and will return from blue to a red state.”

Not so sure. The population growth in the last 10 years has been in the People’s Republic of Northern VA, with west/central VA and tidewater losing representatives. Relatively speaking.

And politically, tidewater has been sort of the wildcard. Some tidewater seats have been like a ping pong ball. I don’t see that changing.

In Mississippi, voters were picking a new governor to succeed Haley Barbour, who could not run again because of term limits. Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant appeared poised to keep the governor’s mansion in GOP hands. He faced Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree, the first black major-party nominee for governor in Mississippi.

“So it is still possible that the Republicans take the Senate?”

Yes. Very. It’ll be close, though.

“Nice job, considering Hussein’s fraud machine is probably working overtime.”

The dems ground game in VA is far better. Fraud is less of an issue here as (1) ID is required and (2) when you register, you must provide a SSN...one of the few if not only state where that’s true.

In my view the VA gop is dumber than a box of rocks...and I say that at the risk of gravely insulting the intelligence of rocks.

But still. Culturally speaking, northern neck has more in common. What does highly urban Norfolk have to do with the very rural eastern shore? OK, the Chesapeake Bay. What else?

Don’t tell me that! How could the left LIVE in a military town it is unheard of!

You would be amazed at how many military guys don't bother to vote.

The town of Norfolk is full of Obama supporters. A lot of the military guys that do vote will vote in different states "back home". Sadly many do not vote at all. I think in the 2008 elections 4 of us out of nearly 30 people voted.

The lefties love Norfolk all the things they hate are close by. Nuke ships, military, guns, patriots, etc...

That is too bad about the VA GOP. Gov McDonnell seems to be doing great. Is the state party apparatus not improving? That is an important state the Republicans must hold on to.

Nothing, absolutely nothing. But I agree with you about more in common with northern neck, although I'm not really familiar with the area. I pretty much stay on my side of the Bay ;^)
