Cain Accuser Speaks (Here's a summary of Sharon Bialek's allegations)
National Review ^ | 11/07/2011 | Katrina Trinko

Posted on 11/07/2011 12:51:58 PM PST by SeekAndFind

Sharon Bialek, a woman employed by the National Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation in the late 90s, accused Herman Cain of inappropriate sexual contact today in a press conference with celebrity attorney Gloria Allred.

Bialek said she first met Cain when employed by the NRA as a manger of industry relations. She lost her job there shortly thereafter, and at her boyfriend’s suggestion, arranged to meet Cain in D.C. over coffee in 1997 to discuss her career. She told Cain what hotel she would be staying at; when she arrived, she had been upgraded to a suite, which she later found out had been through his doing, although she says she was not aware of that at the time. Cain also switched their meeting to a restaurant. After eating, Bialek said the two drove over to the National Restaurant Association headquarters; she assumed he would show her the offices.

“He suddenly reached over and he put his hand on my leg, under my skirt, and reached for my genitals,” said Bialek of what happened next. “He also grabbed my head and brought it towards his crotch. I was very, very surprised and very shocked. I said, ‘What are you doing? You know I have a boyfriend. This isn’t what I came here for.’ Mr. Cain said, ‘You want a job, right?’ I asked him to stop and he did. I asked him to take me back to my hotel, which he did, right away.”

Bialek said she told her boyfriend and another friend that Cain had been “sexually inappropriate” to her at the time, but said she had not detailed what occurred.

Bialek, identified by Allred as a registered Republican, said she saw Cain again about a month ago at a Tea Party conference in the Chicago area. She asked him if he remembered her. “He acknowledged that he remembered me from the foundation, but he kind of looked uncomfortable,” Bialek said. “He said nothing as he was whisked away for his speech by his handlers.”

As noted, before the press conference began, the Cain campaign put out a statement saying the allegations were “completely false.”

The press is playing you for the patsy you are. They are picking the Republican candidate like they did in 2004.

Nonsense.

I don't care about the bimbo explosions or smears or whatever today's diversion is about Herman Cain.

We are in the political fight of our lives and Cain, at best, is a second-tier candidate. After watching him Saturday night on C-Span, I'm thinking he's a THIRD-tier candidate.

No matter how much you want it to be true, the great Herman Cain lacks the debating skills and depth of knowledge to win a general election -- nevermind govern!

Scratch his surface, and you get a deer in the headlights---with nothing but platitudes about "results orientation" and "the tea party", and foolish, ever-changing tax proposals.

Get over Cain. Move on. Refocus.

Enough of this utter foolishness!

Whom do you suggest we REFOCUS on, in the Republican party? You wouldn't be a MITTENS supporter now, would you?

Because it was left off the ‘script’ she was reading and because it never happened.

one woman already ‘spoke’ out through her attorney

________________

It’s also possible that they were making much ado about nothing.

As a lawyer wrote in the New York Post:

The dirty little secret among lawyers that defend business people from lawsuits — and among those lawyers who bring them — is that an enormous percentage of such claims are frivolous, if not flat-out lies.

Concepts like “truth” and “justice” have little meaning in the world of big-money litigation. Thanks to ravenous plaintiffs’ lawyers empowered by the politicians they buy with campaign contributions, every business person is in the crosshairs.

Lawsuits are so expensive to defend that it makes good business sense to settle even the most frivolous cases. And businesses do.

TV and movies would have you believe that most lawsuits end up with a jury hearing the evidence and rendering a verdict. That almost never happens. Close to 97 percent of civil cases never see a courtroom. The vast majority settle, with the business paying good money to end the nightmare — money that could have gone to hiring struggling young people, buying new equipment or expanding.

And, as Herman Cain has learned, you never really can buy your peace. The accusers apparently signed nondisclosure agreements so that Cain and his company could put the accusations behind them. A lot of good that did. Whether it was the accusers or others who revealed the claims, the effort to buy peace now looks like wasted money.

In the world of sexual-harassment law, the accusations are bad enough. You’re guilty until proven innocent. The law is skewed toward the plaintiffs — it’s hard to get even the silliest charges tossed out, and even then it often costs upward of six figures to do so.

Businesses almost never collect their legal fees back after defeating frivolous claims, but a winning plaintiff usually does. And when the lawyer is working on a contingency, taking 40 percent or more of the haul and fronting the costs of the suit, there’s little incentive not to march down to the courthouse and file even the flimsiest case.

Even what constitutes “sexual harassment” has crossed from common sense into farce. In the 1970s, my mother was a lawyer who faced the real thing as one of the very few women in a testosterone-fueled district attorney’s office. Today, women are at or near parity with men in most every field, and are even ahead of them among entrants to the professions.

Yet where sexual-harassment law once protected women from being forced to be the playthings of crude lechers, it’s been transformed to enforcing a prim puritanism that drains the humor and humanity from the workplace. People are afraid to make an innocent joke or compliment a co-worker’s appearance for fear of crossing some unspoken line that will bring down the wrath of the human-resources department.

SO, AGAIN, UNLESS THE WOMEN COME OUT AND PRESENT THEMSELVES AND TELL US EXACTLY WHAT CAIN DID THAT WAS INAPPROPRIATE, HE IS INNOCENT.

The only one who came out is Sharon Lialek and she did not even sue. And her story is looking more and more scripted as we analyze her allegations.

In other words, if he cannot control the leftist media and the democrat allies, he should stop trying? Seriously?

I don't give a hoot about the leftist media, et al.

Cain is not a top-tier candidate -- nor does he give any indication he has the experience and temperament to effectively govern.

We need to shut down this diversion and get back to real issues and smart, articulate candidates with a depth of knowledge and understanding of all issues to actually help America get back on track.

This whole Cain debacle is getting way too emotional and too personal.

No good will come of it.

RE: If Cain cannot shut this down, then he needs to step aside

LOL. The left are already reading this statement and planning their next move — DON’T SHUT ANYTHING DOWN, JUST CONTINUE TO MAKE ALLEGATIONS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS TRUE.

Just repeat a lie long enough until it becomes the truth. After all, if it works for guys like Right_in_Virginia, it will work anywhere.

Well, if that is your main concern, I guess that IS a legitimate concern.

But all these demanding that Herman Cain control the smears thrown at him (which is beyond his control) is NOT the right recommendation.

So yes, STICK TO THE ISSUES not the smear.

OMG you so very clever.

I'm in the process of eliminating candidates. Hermain Cain is on that list. As is Mr. Paul. Gov. Romney is getting close to it.

But keep checking ... I'll be happy to let you know my decision as soon as I make it.

Doesn’t leave too many left, if those are all on their way out on your list! Guess you’ll have to write-in a top tier candidate this time!

“Yeah, that’s what most married men do... pull over in front of their office building where they know everyone and then start groping a woman... especially when they were actually headed to a hotel. It’s a BS story from the start and not a very good one.”

Hahaha exactly!

“The narrative sounds too scripted to me. One would have to assume that Cain is so stupid that he can’t wait to at least invite her to the hotel room before attempting anything. He had to do it in the car where people might see them.”

They can’t place him BACK IN THE HOTEL, let alone IN A HOTEL ROOM with her.

In other words, they were never together inside a hotel room. Thus, Allred (hitwoman for the Communists) asked “Ok, where did the (invented) incident take place?”

The best they can do is “In a parked car outside the office where Cain manages ___ number of people.”

I agree, this is absurd. Would you park outside the building you work at and start making out with some woman in your car? Of course not, especially if you’re married. People would see you. This is ridiculous.

So its your contention that steering wheels prevent oral sex?

The extended hand rest make it logistically "very difficult" and would likely evoke a "get to the room faster" response.
