READ THE 21st CENTURY CONTRACT WITH AMERICA

It is just a beginning and will be fleshed out in detail in time, because Newt has done this before. Go back and read the original Contract with America as well. The Republican Congress implemented virtually all of it in short order.

We had a BUDGET SURPLUS with Newt as Speaker and we almost had a balanced budget amendment had the RINO, Mark Hatfield not bailed in the last minute. Those were the good old fiscal days.

Yes, yes, I know, Newt has his baggage. He galivanted with Nancy Pelosi and endorsed Dede Scazzafava, and then there's the matter of his 3 marriages, etc.

But are we voting for a saint or are we voting for someone who has the experience and RECORD to get us out of our present funk?

Newt sold out for $300,000 by lobbying for Freddie Mac to prevent conservatives call to reform it right before the economic collapse. That’s not a Tea Party person.

I think one of the best things Newt could do right now to advance is own campaign would be to take up the case of one Herman Cain and the vicious and rabid attacks Cain is being forced to endure from the commie DNC press.

Gingrich and Cain should form common cause against the collusion of the so-called “media” with the Democrat Party, and how the institutional malpractice of the profession of journalism is subverting our Republic and the principles for which it stands.

And so the PR Re-packaging of a moderate Republican begins anew.

Actually Newt's record is the problem.

He needs a strong hand to keep him on the right path.

His political morality is highly situational. In a choice between political principals and political expediency, Newt has picked expediency every time

I'm voting for someone with no beltway coattails. As to "RECORD to get us out of our present funk", Newt's is checkered. Yes, he's the most astute and politically knowledgeable among the candidates, but he's shown tendency too often in the past to ignore his conservative base. Somewhere in a conservative administration? Yes. As president? No.

Newt needs to stay in the basement somewhere cranking out great ideas and writing great speeches. Those of us old enough to remember cannot forget nor forgive how Newt folded like a cheap tent under the onslaught of Hillary & Bill, both relative amateurs compared to the gangster government in power now.

It is called backbone and we need a standard bearer who has it. And I don't mean backbone in throwing conservatives under the bus.

He is untrustworthy.
Less bad than Romney, Perry, Huntsman, or Paul I suppose, but everyone else who has decared is better.

Middle of the pack, no matter how good he orates.

Newt is the best, most qualified, most knowledgeable, most prepared man in the race and number two is not very close. I predict Newt's numbers will continue to rise in spite of his baggage, as he continues to over-shadow all of his opponents.

Cain did reasonably well in the Saturday debate only because it was a non-contentious discussion. He did look out-classed as he repeatedly deferred to Newt to answer a question first. It was clear that Herman Cain did not know how to respond until he got his cues from Newt's answers.

Newt:

Good: good opposition leader, good idea guy, good communicator

Bad: can’t keep his pants on, not a good leader in power, says whatever enters his head, gets caught up in global warming and other wacky ideas.

Newt of the 1990’s is not Newt of 2011.

His conversion to Catholicism suggests to me his “baggage” is being carried by those who don’t believe in Forgiveness and a change of heart.

He’s admitted he screwed up sitting on the couch with Pelosi.

The question isn’t whether or not Newt has serious flaws. Of course he does. It’s simply a matter of weighing his flaws versus the flaws of the other choices. The mere fact that Newt is now getting serious consideration, here and elsewhere, tells you all you need to know about the quality of the field (Limbaugh’s pom-pom waving notwithstanding.)

I would, at a minimum, like to see him make mincemeat of Obama in a debate - he could do it with half his brain & one hand tied behind his back.

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin - - - - . Where do I start? First, your line “ - - - The Republican Party seems to be struggling to find a candidate it can unite around. “ is false.

We are listening for IDEAS from Candidates. “Finding a Candidate” is the last thing that we want to do, because once a candidate has the nomination sewed up, he/she stops creating ideas that will solve the problems, and starts caving in so as to “broaden the base.”

So far, NOBODY has a clue as how to solve our number one problem: How do we get out of the financial death spiral that America is in?

We have had two Presidents destroy 8 TRILLION dollars in 11 years. NOBODY is addressing how that is going to be paid off in their lifetimes, or AT ALL!

Kevin, “the problem” in the District of Corruption is not with who sits in the Oval Office.

The problem is that our “Checks and Balances” system has ceased to function.

Cain has not figured that out yet, but he comes very close to discovering it as you quote him: “ - - - Herman Cain says, “The folks in Washington have held public office. How’s that working out for you?” - - - .”

Stupid people are in Washington because even more stupid people will not investigate their crimes of commission and omission.

BTW, my dictionary says: stupid adj. 1. Very slow of apprehension or understanding.

Face it. Newt’s time has passed.

..Newt is an academic--loves ideas--all kinds of ideas. But he can be attracted to good ideas as well as bad.

Also I have watched him move back and forth from premier bomb thrower in the Reagan years to brilliant policy tactician to painfully reckless in his personal life.

The present manifestation of Newt can be helpful to a victory in 2012, but IMHO, it must never be at the top of the ticket.

Mr. Cain is that man...

Frankly Newt can try all he wants. He is a political hack who only wants the status quo to continue. I will not vote for him. He is not up to standards.
