Why is Cain ‘wired’ and Newt holding the mic? Did anyone explain that?

Because Newt's lapel mike isn't working - simple...

Thanks. I thought maybe Cain preferred the lapel pin and Newt preferred holding the mic (esp since Newt spent years teaching college lectures).
