I really like Newt Gingrich. Before I decided on who I would support in 2012, I posted some favorable posts about Newt. I was summarily attacked by the Palin loon squad, who I fear have now migrated to the Cain loon squad. Anyway, being inquisitive, I joined Newt's Web site, read a couple of his books, and tried to find out what really didn't site right. Then I stumbled on this article. With the mass resignation of his campaign staff in the summer, I thought that many of the things his ex-wife Marianne Gingrich says in this long article make a lot of sense. I am no longer a Newt for President fan, but I am still a Newt fan. This article put everything into perspective for me.

Looking for some product of the current political class like Newt to fix the broken political system is a fools errand. Newt is just another product of a political class that cannot see that the problem is the system itself is broken.

Sorry, Joe! Newt is no friend of conservatism. Newt was great in the 90’s and for 20 years before that he was the GOP’s ultimate backbench bomb thrower in the House. More recently, Newt has been savaged on this forum and rightly so.

Lets face it. This is a weak field of candidates. Its Romney versus anti-Romney and that doesn't bode well for the good guys.

Newton Leroy Gingrich

That does it! I had friends who were married 35 years. His name was Leroy. He asked his wife for a divorce so he could marry a younger women. I guess all Leroys cheat. < /sarcasm off>

As far as Newt as a history writer, he is amazingly brilliant.

He is blunt. I like that in a politician. We need more of them.

My main problem with Newt is that I find myself liking something he says and then he turns around and does or says something completely liberal/stupid.

I stay clear of Republicans of these “republicans”. I want to know where he is coming from so I can see that he is a solid, consistent conservative.

Newt takes more positions that support my values than any of the others do (so far).

But, I'm still having trouble with the Nancy Pelosi sofa ad about global warming.

Marianne paints a pretty dark psychological profile of Newt. She basically is claiming all his rhetoric is just tools he uses to obtain his true life long goal of political fame and fortune.

Interesting perspective.

“...Palin loon squad, who I fear have now migrated to the Cain loon squad.”

You lost me right there.

In the interest of good sportsmanship, this past Palin supporter and present Newt/Cain supporter wishes you well with your candidates, Romney, Perry and Obama.

Signed,

Loon...

If you cannot detect a left-wing hit job, then I suggest you sharpen your cognitive skills. There’s a ample supply of adjectives and conclusions in the article, and very few facts, which later are then distorted in an attempt to substantiate the author’s preordained viewpoint. And then the author supplements the distortions by making stuff up out of whole cloth.

Those of us who were around at the time know the Congressional history, including the false “ethics” attacks on Gingrich, including the circumstances under which Gingrich stepped down from office. And I infer that if author was happy to be inaccurate about the checkable stuff, he cannot be trusted about matters that I cannot verify 1st hand (e.g., whether he accurately captured Gingrich’s ex-wife’s remarks.)

It’s also relevant that Esquire is not an honest publication; it’s a member in good standing of the MSM/Democrat/Left-wing establishment, proving its bona fides by publishing this instance of written felacio on Obama:

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/07/13/esquires-psalm-to-obama/

Esquire is not in the business of reporting the truth.

Gingrich did not present his wife with divorce papers when she was in the hospital. She was the one who asked for the divorce. Their daughter has explained this many, many times. I do question Newt’s judgement in marrying a smoker.

It’s between Cain and Gingrich for me....I long to see a debate between Gingrich and Obama...can you imagine, a Republican that can actually debate?

I didn’t read the entire article. I have to do something important, like take a crap.

A quote from the leadin: As 2012 approaches, he has raised as much money as all of his potential rivals combined and sits atop the polls for the Republican presidential nomination

Two lies by the author right away.
