I can go with your definition. Now, the next question is how do you measure it? And at what cost-benefit ratio do we work towards this definition? (Cost of enforcement vs. # of illegals still getting through).
There needs to be a federal law prohibiting sanctuary cities, among other “favorable to illegal immigration” things.
Next question is, how far do we go with E-Verify? There are some Constitutional objections to it being the stepping stone to a national ID card. And people are wary of that.
I’d go with E-Verify for government services —including K-12 schools —, but for some strange reason our federal political leaders never bring that up.
What I do know is it obviously CAN be done, almost every other country on earth DOES it, and the majority has the will to do it.
Its our political leaders and other monied interests who don't want it done and I'm not comfortable leaving the fate of my country in their hands.
