A dark day for FR.

I know you claim to be against homo sex, but since The IncreasinglyLessFreeRepublic’s tent now only fits the two of us, I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable. (...wait...what the... that had better have been the tent zipper...going down!)

What the hell are people supposed to post if Romney wins the nomination?

And what the hell are we people who like to reason and debate supposed to do once we all are either coerced or winnowed into agreement?

Seriously, it is time for a name change: ‘The Robinson Republic’ has a ring to it.

FreeRepublic has itself become false advertising.

(No, I don’t support Romney. I also do not have an irrational fear of him.)

The boss has made it clear that FR is NOT a liberal debating society. I don't come here for debate of any type because the stated purpose is clear:

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

As I see it, the purpose is to champion causes that promote true Conservative principles in America. This is a site for pro-God, pro-gun, pro-life activism. I don't see how there can be nay room for debate on Mitt Romney, any more than one can debate the merits of homosexuality or murdering of the unborn.

NOT ONE VOTE HAS BEEN CAST IN ANY PRIMARY and yet you say this a dark day for FRee Republic?

How so?

Because there will be NO campaigning for Romney?

FYI, How about bucking up and getting to work with the aim of defeating him in the primaries?

Find yourself a conservative to support and work for your candidate!

We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Romney is not a lock by any means, regardless of what the establishment criminals say.

That said, should the unthinkable happen, FR will likely be even more active with people posting support for their favorite 3rd party candidates. Perhaps enough conservatives can coalesce around one of them to make Romney irrelevant and give this country a TRUE choice between conservative and liberal in the general election.

Free Republic is pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government.

We are a grassroots conservative activist site fighting for pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government causes and candidates.

What part of Romney is none of the above do you not understand? And why do you think pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government Free Republic should support a candidate whose record is completely opposite to our stated principles and goals?

That's a specious argument. No one is being coerced or winnowed into agreement. JimRob has applied remarkable equanimity in what can be posted (pro and con) about ANY of the candidates, including: Cain, Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, Gingrich, and even nutty old Ron Paul. Engage in reason and debate about any or all of them, as you like.

Romney isn't a moderate Republican, Romney isn't a libertarian Republican, a conservative, or an independant. Romney is a liberal. JimRob will not allow advocacy for a liberal on his website. Is that really so difficult to understand?

You should have a rational fear of what his presidency would be.

"What the hell are people supposed to post if Romney wins the nomination"?

It hasn't happened yet and we aren't going to do anything to encourage it, like telling the RNC that we are willing to bend over and get screwed again.

Speaking only for myself, I'll be posting against both Obama and Romney and for some third party candidate or a Sarah Palin write-in campaign.

We'll still be talking about conservative candidates and conservative causes. I don't think Romney will get it though, but if he does, I think it would be boost to starting a competitive third party movement.
