Cain Campaign Gets Smoked on Harassment
Fox News ^ | Published October 31, 2011 | By Chris Stirewalt

To my knowledge, this is not an accurate story.”

-- Herman Cain campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon on allegations of payments to two former female subordinates whom Politico reports made claims that Cain sexually harassed them.

Maybe if Herman Cain’s campaign manager had spent less of the past two weeks on self-promotional smoke breaks, the GOP’s putative presidential frontrunner would be having a better Monday...........

Despite having known that the story was in the pipeline for weeks, the Cain team and the candidate seemed utterly unprepared for the onslaught that has predictably followed. They have issued evasive denials and immediately gone to political DEFCON 1 by invoking the fricasseeing of Clarence Thomas, also a conservative black man from Georgia, in 1991 for allegations of bawdy talk at his office.

“Sadly, we’ve seen this movie played out before -- a prominent conservative targeted by liberals simply because they disagree with his politics,” said spokesman J.D. Gordon (who is the campaign’s “vice president for communications” as well as a senior foreign-policy adviser).

still bristle at having Thomas hectored by none other than Sen. Ted Kennedy for lasciviousness, jumping right to the infamous “high-techWhile conservatives lynching” doesn’t leave Cain a lot of running room. success, even if he survived to go on and become a distinguished jurist..,.............. So how could Cain and his team not have been prepared for this? If there was a payout to these women, which the campaign seems to allow is possible, then how was there no plan in place for this contingency? Surely they long knew that some rival campaign would unearth these allegations and that this would be tremendously dangerous for a candidate who is an ordained minister.

I like Mr. Cain, but I keep getting the feeling that he’s never really organised or prepared for things unexpected.

I see the Perry brigade is jumping all over this. Anything to get that stammering, stumbling, heartless doofus the nomination.

What is the Cain PR folk supposed to do with “We have 2 anonymous women who said that Cain did ‘something’ unwanted over 12+ years ago”?

Were charges made 12 years ago? Who are these women? Do they have any evidence? What I see is libel and character assassination, possibly extortion. Any man, woman or child; could have said something intentionally, or unintentionally 12-20 years ago that was taken as sexually harassing.

Why does this get headlines, when cases of forced rape from a sitting president are not given any Press?

I’ve been expecting something like this for months. Could the Left be any more predictable?

If this crapola had any legs it would have surfaced in 2004 when Herman ran for US Senate from GA. I have never heard a peep of scandal about Herman Cain.

I don’t see that perry supporters “jumping” on this here at FR will do anything to get Perry the nomination.

I do believe that if Cain doesn’t survive this, it probably improves Perry’s chances, although Gingrich seems next in line for the “flavor of the week”.

I know I’m not going to touch the actual allegations made with a 10-foot-pole. I might discuss the process issues around “handling” the story, because that speaks more to the candidate’s ability to run an organization, in this case a campaign organization, in a way that will help him win the nomination.

But I’ll wait a bit and see whether they can recover from their decidedly amateurish handling so far.

Remember,Fox News is all in for Moderate Mitt-so grains of sand all around.

There is NOTHING to the allegations so Fox News has to call Cain incompetent for not being ready to deal with NOTHING.

Pure sophistry that makes Fox News becoming even more and more a tool of the MSM sooo obvious.

This will be the only thing the Romney network (FOX) will talk about all week. Its all that have talked about this morning I just had to turn them off.

Kinda bogus they wary all they talk is this, wondering if CAin will be able to get it off the front pages... Not if FOX has anything to say about it. The Lamestreamers are not even this bad.
