Gazeta Wyborcza ^ | Oct.18, 2011 | Wojciech Szacki

Having been newly elected to the Polish Parliament, forty MPs of Janusz Palikot's movement started a new session demanding the Crucifix to be removed from the main hall of the parliament, which has already ignited a political war in Poland. (...)

Gazeta  checked out the opinion of the Polish people regarding the presence of the cross in Seym (the name of the lower chamber of the Polish Parliament)

According to the poll, 70% claim  the cross should be there to stay and never removed, which is opposed by 20%. What is more, the cross in the Polish parliament is also supported by majority of those, who voted for the  Democratic Left Alliance, let alone the Civic Platform, Law & Justice or Polish People's Party.   Only about 57% of Palikot's voters are against the cross in the Parliament.

At the same time, Gazeta decided to find out about the opinion of the Poles as regards the other crosses in the public life.

Crosses in hospitals are accepted with overwhelming majority. Not only do 84% of Poles think the Crucifixes are allowed in hospitals, but, what is more, they claim Crucifixes ought to be there to stay.

A clear majority, 72%, claim that Crucifix ought to be in shool classrooms. (...) Crucifix in schools is supported by voters of: Law & Justice (93%), Polish People;s Party (86%), the Civic Platform (68%), and even Democratic Left Alliance (62%) . Only the voters of Palikot's Movement do not want the Crucifix there (57%)

It's worth mentioning, 78% of the youngest ones (aged 18-29) claim the cross ought to be in school classrooms.

As to crosses in the state offices, 53% is for and 41% is against. What is astounding, 63% of the youngest Poles  are ready to defend of the cross in the state offices. (...)

Janusz Palikot changed his opinion about the Crucifix in the Parliament. As an MP of the Civic Platform, he called the Crucifix the symbol of the national identity and even finished his parliamentary oath declaring "So Help Me God".  Asked about the change of his mind, he said the Crucifix became the political symbol of the opposing Law & Justice party after the Smolensk crash in Apr.2010.

Gazeta Wyborcza is a top ultraliberal (anti Catholic)newspaper in Poland, which can be proved by its internal research poll on the subject, where 84% of its online voters are against the Cross, and only 16% are for, which is totally different to the nation wide outcome.

---EXPLANATORY NOTES---

After the latest parliamentary election, Oct.9,2011, Poland's political theater has gained a new actor - Ruch Poparcia Palikota. In English this could be translated as Movement to Support Palikot, an organization that gathers people with strong hostile attitude to the Catholic Church, or actually, against Christianity as a whole.

Since the fall of communism in 1989, there has been no political party that so openly emphasised its attitude to Christianity, esp. to its symbols like Crucifixes hanged on the walls in schools, hospitals, state offices including the highest ones like the Parliament.

The new parliament consists of :

Political Right and Center

39.18% of votes that gives 207/460 seats for the Civic Platform (fiscal conservatives, mostly Catholic believers),

29.89% of votes that gives 157/460 seats for of the Law & Justice (social conservatives with strong commitment to social teaching of the Catholic Church),

8.36% of votes that gives 28/460 seats for the Polish People's Party (rural conservatives with some socialistic fiscal tendencies; socially conservative and Catholic)

the Right (total) : 391/460, which is 85% of the Polish Parliament

Political Left and Ultraleft:

8.24% of votes that gives 27/460 seats for the Democratic Left Alliance (a post communist leftwing party; compared to UK Labor Party or German Social Democrats)

10.02% of votes that gives 40 seats for Movement to Support Palikot, or for short, Palikot's Movement, (an ultraleft organization created by a former MP of the Civic Platform, expelled from there for his offensive behaviour against e.g. clergy; easily compared to anticatholic Spanish Zapatero's socialists, which openly aimed at total war against the Catholic Church and entire Christianity together with its symbols)

The Left (total): 67/460, which is 15% of the Polish Parliament

Why the Poles do not just throw any leftist out of the country is beyond me. They lived that hell for 60 years. Why put up with them in your government wanting that to come back again? Stupid Amerikans want the same thing. Think living as surfs while the elite live in their NY City mansions is okay. Stupid is as stupid is.

Still, we seem to be an island of faith, a stronghold of Christianity within the EU see of moral obscenity.

Would you believe? For wearing crosses on their necks, British nuns are expelled from the hospitals and not allowed to treat patients there.
In Poland, such could be commented only this way - BARBARITY!

1 Corinthians

23 "but we preach [a]Christ crucified"

1 Corinthians 2:2

2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

Galatians 6:14

14 But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through [a]which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Seems like the Poles get it.

They also seem to realize that once you start letting these godless leftist dictate how to express your faith, in the name of tolerance, that eventually they take everything over and leave your nation tottering without principles or identity, which is a sad lesson America is learning too late.

Once the crosses are all gone from America, it will sink into the morass of a third world nation, and the leftists at the NY Times will speculate endlessly on “why” and perhaps “is this a good thing” without ever coming close to the truth. Which is that they destroyed their own, great country with their selfish utopian marxism.

Europe is Christian no more. In Belgium or France you may be punished in some circles for using Christian symbols, while Islamic or Buddhist ones seem to be untouchable. The Western world dies. I hope Poland, my Poland, will manage to carry the torch.
