Starting with the "top of the fold" Japanese Version of the daily "Wall Street Journal", the Japanese vernacular press is brimming full of articles mentioning Herman Cain is the new front runner in the GOP race for the party's nomination for 2012. This news seems to have exploded overnight.
It will be quite a task to translate all these in full. Here are some representative samples from today I saw, using "Google Japan (News)". I shall endeavor to provide a URL link and title translation for just a segment of them, which have all appeared in the last 48 hours, particularly following the NH Debate and the most recent NBC/WSJ polling information. The Japanese news is also highlighting in the headlines that Mr. Cain is a black American (not that it matters, but just an interesting contrast with their previous hero, Barack Obama, who's public stock/image has plummeted dramatically in Japan over time).

Nice to see this. I think the Japanese would be happy to be dealing with an adult back in the White HOuse.

SueRae, that is the initial man on the street sense I am getting here in Tokyo. The more they know Herman Cain's executive and managerial and naval/mathematics/economics background, the more they respect him. To most Japanese, they have HIGH respect for those in BUSINESS and particularly SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS and turnaround records. Something Cain has TONS of and Obongo has ZILCH--as they found out (and the World Economy for that matter). Their investments in the USA are suffering horrendously under Geitner, Bernanke and Obongo. In fact, I would say there is general disdain toward Obama now by vast segments of the Japanese business community. They know him as an empty suit, they were fooled by his empty promises, and they can read the numbers and know he is a bumbling idiot, no more than a second rate US Senator briefly and before that a "community organizer". Little respect is afforded these days from the halls of power in Tokyo toward Barack Hussein Obama. (That is part and parcel why Secretary Panetta is getting his ass over here for damage control as they have let US-Japan relations rot and fester like an open-pus sore for the past sorry three years, and are now in urgent damage control with the elections coming up. They are going to need a LOT of frequent flyer miles to turn this bugger around though.) It's almost hopeless, I don't even know why they run up the costs of airfares and using Yokota Air Base for these junkets to try to reverse course. Give it up!!

Do NOT listen to the brief offensive intro of rap music on this Japanese video (linked below) (they, the Japanese themselves only view it as "fashion" and often not being fluent in English really don't know the words behind it), but believe it or not,
some enterprising Japanese person has made an overall rather flattering YouTube Video promoting Herman Cain, the New Sensation from America, with all kinds of outtakes from his interview, calling him the "New Black" replacing Obama for power. I am not kidding! (Their words, not mine). At any rate, for what it is worth. Remember, first minute or two NOT family friendly, but then the rest of the video is an absolute keeper!
HERE
I will post some more gentile, vulgar-less streaming stuff in a moment, that is also from Japanese TV recently on Herman Cain, some good stuff, particularly his DC Values Voters speech calling out Occupy demonstrators to get their behinds to the White House and away from Wall Street.

This is the really good one of Herman Cain's recent rousing speech in D.C. which was on Japanese TV two days ago. Also mentions Perry's apparant fall from grace (poll-wise). Streaming Video Link

Thanks American in Tokyo. I always look forward to reading your posts and perspectives from Japan and the Asian community. Interesting and embarrassing that Panetta is on an apology tour of his own.
Herman Cain has an impressive proven track record of accomplishment, better than any other resume I see running for office. And he is POSITIVE (not to be confused with wishful thinking.)The media here are catching on in many broadcasts I’ve watched. Juan Williams gave a very good review of the man last night.
Of course, the stalwarts (O’Reilly, Krauthmmer, others) are all saying he can’t win, throw in the towel now and avoid the rush. I say baloney, he has a very good chance. And I’m on board for the duration. He brings much to the table.
If he loses out to another candidate on ideas and solutions, qualifications, ok. But I’m not about to stand by and watch the big money elitists pick the candidate for us. Didn’t work out so well the last time, did it?

Being good natured, I think Mr. Cain would even like that one. Someone reading from his staff should read it to him on the plane, or in the van or on the bus, whatever he is doing today.
