Just the ones who think we should tax tea--and everything else we buy. Time to throw them in Boston Harbor, along with 9-9-9.
Time will tell if the Kool Aid drinkers dominate the Tea Party. Hopefully not, because 9-9-9 will get Obama re-elected.
Cain’t imagine in my wildest dreams, that the tea party members will go for a natioal sales tax.
An endorement for Herman would mean an endorsement of his plan.
To get the government out of my finances, I’d be thrilled with the Fair Tax.
So where is Perry’s tax plan?
Oh yeah, he forgot to bring it to the economic debate. (”Can I have a three day extension, professor?”)
The fact is we are on the verge of a severe collapse in our standard of living unless we 1) re-incentivize the production of goods within the U.S. and 2) raise the abysmal savings rate.
Cain’s plan is the only one that gets to the root of these problems.
Of course we need to cut regulations and cut spending and open up domestic energy production as well.
But the Cain tax plan would provide a solid foundation for manufacturing in the United States.
Where are the jobs going to be for all of those tens of millions of illegals and their children whom Rick Perry wants to legalize, since our manufacturing base is going overseas, if we don’t turn it around and soon?
When the Taxed Enough Already party was pure. Didn’t take long to get side tracked.
You are so right. CBS this evening had a straightforward report on 9-9-9 and pointed out how it would hurt those at the bottom of the income ladder. A person making, say, $25,000 a year now pays no income tax. Considering the inflation rate and the cost for rent, food, gasoline, etc., you’re barely surviving at that income level. Herman’s plan would slap a 9% tax on your paltry income and a 9% tax on everything you buy including food, medicine, and clothing. If you’re a poor person living in Pennsylvania, that sales tax would be on top of the 6% sales tax Pennsylvanians of whatever income already pay.
When people get a good look at this nutty idea, Herman’s poll numbers will go down the drain. His appeal is to the simple-minded who buy whatever is the latest fad getting all the buzz. When Herman finally comes under some scutiny, he’ll drop like a rock. The sooner the better with this plan.
You DO understand the sales tax replaces much of the income tax, and is harder to raise since EVERYONE sees it if you raise it?
I have a problem with people who don’t like the 999 plan. I would LOVE to have my income tax reduced to 9%. That would many times over offset what the 9% tax on things we buy would be. Besides, we can decide what to buy, and if we don’t want to pay the 9% tax to buy something, then we don’t buy it.
I do think that food and medicine should be exempt from any kind of tax, though.
..Because nibbling at the edges of an unwieldy system of taxation is so much more effective.
Exactly. 9-9-9- what a lame gimmick, that will get him laughed into oblivion
I want the FairTax. I have wanted the FairTax for more than a decade.
I wish Cain would emphasize that 999 is a transition to the FairTax. Many, many people understand and support that one.
NO sales tax on homes, stocks or autos - and INCOME TAXES can't go above 9.1%!!
What I want is the federal government to reduce taxes and spending and defund Education, EPA and Transportation.
9% national tax on EVERY item you buy..if you spend 700 a month for gasoline, groceries, eating out...that would be 64.00 a month to the feds (big items not included) You would spend 768.00 dollars a year and that doesn’t count whatever you would buy at Christmas or other special occasions. Add this to your personal income tax and pray that the rates don’t go UP. I just do not feel comfortable with this since our county taxes are already high and they are talking abour raising them.
